This is a very educational thread from the guy who literally wrote the Special Counsel statute that Mueller is operating under. I encourage everyone to read it.

Main point of his thread- Trump is screwed unless he actually has not commited a single crime.

The day the Dems won the House, they ensured Mueller’s findings would be made public in some form or fashion, and the whole idea that the president has immunity is a very open question.

And if Mueller operates under the “President cannot be indicted DOJ guideline”, interesting point-

Mueller has to hand over ALL investigation evidence over to Congress for impeachment hearings.

That makes me think that because of the sensitive counterintelligence nature of these potential crimes, indicting Trump might not be that far fetched at all, and actually make more sense given the nature of the “high crimes” in this case.

    Very interesting stuff.

Do you think even one of his supporters in here will question this? We’ll get the expected “fake news” cries, as they are too far gone to question anything regarding this moron in chief.

So now law enforcement needs to be politically accountable? That's rich.

Are you this dense? Ultimately the FBI at this time and until the probe was handed over to Mueller was under the authority of Trumps own hand picked Justice Department who is accountable to the Republican controlled Senate.

Rod Rosenstein if you want to be specific who is accountable to the likes of Chuck Grassley, Lindsay Graham, Richard Burr, and co. Also all the clownish oversight the Republican House gave the FBI which is probably where this leak came from with the Page/Struck testimony given to the likes of hacks you love like Jim Jordan.

So blame those schmucks instead of crying Deep State. Those are your tribes elected officials who were conducting oversight at the time of this probes launch.

a very good analysis from Jack Goldsmith that examines the FBI's counterintelligence investigation of Trump. Goldsmith argues that unless there's more to the evidence the FBI relied on to initiate the investigation than the NYT reports, the FBI investigation is deeply "imprudent":

". . . There is no elegant or satisfying solution to the problem of a president about whom plausible questions are raised concerning his ultimate loyalty to the United States. I also agree with David that the conundrum the FBI found itself in in the spring of 2017 was almost entirely attributable to the president’s norm-defying (to put it mildly) behavior. But there is more at stake than just this president. As I have noted many times, one of President Trump’s most nefarious skills is to act in norm-busting ways that cause people and institutions to respond to him in norm-busting ways. If indeed the FBI took the unprecedented step of opening a counterintelligence investigation directed at the president premised on his threat to national security, I hope the bureau had much stronger evidence for doing so than the Times story provided—and I hope that something of investigative substance actually turned on it. Otherwise, the step strikes me as deeply imprudent."

    You!!! You idiot.

Mark Warner just said earlier this morning that around that time the “gang of 8” were briefed on this.

Graham and his colleagues provide oversight which is how this leak happened in the first place.

The inspector general also provided oversight of the FBI this year as well.

Then there is Christopher Wray who now oversees the FBI... you don’t see him prosecuting his own people for abusing the power of the investigative branch of our government. Has he advocated for shutting down the Mueller probe which took over this investigation?

To act like the FBI is just some rogue agency of the deep state is insane. The FBI officials knew they were subject to oversight by TRUMP’S own DOJ and a sycophant Republican Congress. Why in the world would they go to this extreme knowing damn well they’d be hung out to dry in the future for a partisan hit job?

I’m getting really sick and tired Lindsay Graham’s hot takes. The man went from being John McCain’s respected #2 to whatever the hell he is now as a Trump lapdog. Why do the networks continue to give this joke any airtime?

Graham is up for reelection in 2020, which has everything to do with his "post-McCain's death" display of sucking up to trump. We saw it during the Kavanaugh hearing, when he erupted in a bizarre rant that was over the top. We're seeing it now. What a sad creature Lindsay Graham has become. His coming primary has him so frightened that he's now willing to publicly play the fool in order to prevent "trump primary mania" from taking him down. John McCain must be rolling over in his grave. What Graham is doing goes beyond what I see as his betrayal of his own values and sense of honor. He's also betraying the memory of an old, close friend.
