Which is smart on his part if he gets a good deal. Nobody talks about John Dean the former convict. Dean’s hirable and has a steady gig on CNN. They are smart enough to know how the public will view this in 10 years.

Mueller's team is conducting a full audit on the lives of anyone ever associated with Trump (with no time/budgetary/scope limits), and if they find something, they threaten to charge them and they will go light on the sentencing if the person gives them something on Trump.

Manafort had nothing, so he got charged with bank fraud.

Cohen had to give them something on Trump or he was going to get wrecked in the same way (for tax fraud unrelated to Trump). So he pled guilty to FEC violations which never would have been successfully prosecuted, but it gets him a lighter sentence on his own personal tax fraud.

None of it has anything to do with Russia of course.

And of course, the Clinton campaign funded the Steele dossier (who worked with Russian contacts!) through the law firm Perkins Coie, and never reported that activity to the FEC. But that will never be investigated. Perkins Coie will never have their law offices raided like Cohen did. They are part of the tribe.

But most important, what color hats?

You went through and ticked off every trump defense box. Lets see "full audit on any trump associated" (aka "witchhunt!"). Even though (so far!) the people are trump's lawyer, trump's campaign chairman, trump's deputy campaign chairman, another campaign adviser, trump's NSA advisor, a few people that connected the trump campaign to russian nationals, and a slew of russian nationals. Sure sounds very focused... and not just "anyone ever associated with trump."

Then you say "nothing to do with russia." Which we don't know isn't a part of Mueller's investigation (an investigation that has been remarkable at being quiet about what they are doing and even more remarkable about how efficiently they are with building a growing case). But sure... if trump is found guilty of obstruction and financial violations... these would appear to be serious crimes that would justify the investigation and any prosecution that might follow.

And last, the standby "whataboutism" about Hillary. Surprised you didn't squeeze in the words emails and Benghazi in there.

I think we finally have uncovered voter fraud... no one actually voted for him, must have won via fraudulent votes!

Yep. He's probably going to start pardoning soon, and signaling Manafort is getting that very very soon. That's really a dumb move though at this point. If i was his lawyer I would tell him to save the pardon power for his family. Manafort isn't flipping because of the Russians... not because of Trump. Manafort is likely to get state charges and still spend hard time either way. He obviously doesn't care about jail, and cares more about not snitching on the Russians. Pardoning Manafort would be a waste of one of his last bullets in his chamber.

I picture trump sitting in the presidential bathroom, starting his tweetstorm while listening to fox & friends for comfort and support... while kellyanne and gen. kelly yell at him to go to his daily intell briefing.

So Mueller shouldn't follow wherever the evidence leads and prosecute law breakers? It sucks Trump is such a poor judge of character. Maybe he shouldn't riddle himself with so many crooks and there might not be so many indictments.

Yet this is exactly what "your side" did to President Clinton regarding Monica Lewinsky. That special prosecution did not set out looking to uncover an affair. Yet, when the trail led them there, suddenly sexual impropriety was an impeachable offense among your ilk (including such chaste figures as Newt Gingrich and Dennis Hastert). Democrats argued that it wasn't and we've argued until we're blue in the face for 20 years.

It doesn't matter that President Trump's current status as an un-indicted co-conspirator has nothing to do with Russia. That's a separate issue. What matters is that he is alleged to have knowingly committed a campaign finance violation by making an in-kind donation to p*rn stars to keep them silent before an election he never thought he was going to win. I'll always believe that he never wanted this job and ran as a publicity stunt; ironically it's the GOP base's undying support of him that is bringing to light all of the nefarious things he's done throughout his whole life. The man wanted to prop up some more shitty ties and a cable television channel and instead was given the keys to the most important job in the world.

Here's what I don't understand about modern conservatives who support President Trump: wouldn't your political lives be better with President Pence? Wouldn't you get the same policy outcomes - Supreme Court picks, corporate tax cuts, de-regulation, etc. - that you're getting under President Trump without the personal instability and, frankly, incompetence that comes with putting a bad businessman into the presidency? Wouldn't it be easier to pursue policies your support without the constant carnival atmosphere surrounding this man and his family?

    Yep.

    1. People forget that there was an investigation that went on with Bill Clinton before Ken Starr took over (that Savings and Loan kerfluffle) that nobody could get an indictment or conviction on...
    2. Donald Trump wanted to be president about as much as Channing Tatum does. He DID want all of that cash that's floating around federal campaign elections...just dumb luck for him that he was Russian-mobbed up already, and that there were more than a few million people who would vote for him just because...
    3. oh yeah...unindicted co-conspirator has such a nice ring to it...
