I think the play is, as more of the truth comes out, and more of the evidence is made public. It'll be harder for Republicans to maintain control of the House. And I think that cat's already out of the bag. The American public will find out exactly what happened one way or the other. There's no stopping this.

Having a hard time believing that. Other than construing payoffs as undeclared campaign contributions in-kind, what crime would they say was committed by paying off women with NDAs? There must be something more.

There is no stopping the reputational damage, I agree. That will continue to impact elections into the future. But unless Democrats actually take control of the House (despite gerrymandering), I'm not confident the Trump presidency can be stopped regardless of what news comes out.

...well, the Donald DID say he was only going to hire the "best" people...

...maybe it would have mattered, if anybody had known exactly WHAT these people were the best at....

You better start working on your Herman Cain talking points then.

There is always the need and value for a negro to tell everyone else that it isn't that bad.

    Omigod.
...I finally get to make the connection:

    "9-9-9"!
    ...or...
    "Nein-nein-nein" ! (if we're going full-fascism)...

    ...but "nyet-nyet-nyet" seems more likely...

    Don't kid yourself.

The professors and scientists are on the same level as deep staters (Trump appointed Republicans lol) and will be summarily executed FIRST.

    This.

Donald Trump has already successfully blurred the issue enough, that people that want to believe him will believe him.

If Trump comes in and fires the people necessary, and gets rid of Mueller; there is no guarantee that the House will vote for impeachment. Republicans are strongly (as Democrats would be to) motivated to protect their party leader. I could see a situation where a lot of Republicans argue that at the point Mueller was fired, there wasn't sufficient evidence to impeach.

That then leaves waiting until 2020. Everyone assumes that there will be an uproar, but would there be by 2020? Would voters punish Republicans down the ballot? I am not so sure.

Mueller has to conduct his investigation not worrying about his investigative security. However this idea everyone has that Trump and those that abed him will be stopped is far from certain.

    Yep.
...I think the fact that Donald Trump and anybody else so inclined was able to get this far is more worrisome and telling than anything else...

...and even more worrisome and telling is the fact that, for nothing but political tribalism or survival's sake, things might have to get a whole lot worse before they get any better...

...pretty interesting opinion offered in The Atlantic recently...

That is why i always said we could elect a Hitler like leader someday in this country under the right condition. Since many in the military are supporting far right policies, I wouldn't bet against the US turning into a Germany if that were to happen. The probability is small but not insignificant.
