    Well, that worked well...

Maybe I should start a Jerome Williams thread?

Bad potential 4th outfielder sent down for less bad potential 4th outfielder.

Tough to get excited about getting value from being less bad.

Its better than doing nothing and just continuing to give him endless chances.

You really think Hoes has been given a fair chance this year?

LF and DH will be high on offseason wish list. No more trash like grossman, hoes, carter, presley and krauss in those spots. Spend some cash and add at least 2 major league bats in the lineup.

Better than nothing is not worth getting excited about.

With his previous record, that is about the amount of chance he deserved. Granted, he's better than Grossman so he should have more MLB at bats than him this season, but Grossman sucking does not equate to an unfair chance for Hoes.

Who's getting excited? It's still a two page thread yet nobody really cares all that much unless Santana was going to be called up.

Is he really better? Who knows. He certainly wasn't getting ABs here because Grossman was up, so Robbie sucking certainly gives hoes more of a chance.

Maybe not exciting, but averts some building frustration.

    Exactly.

There's really no need to put the damper on this move... "Aww, look at you all getting excited over a 4th OF being exchanged for another 4th OF... amateurs!"

I don't think that's happening at all... if a guy has options, and he isn't cutting it, and there are potential alternatives that are already on the 40 man roster, you go ahead and give them a chance.

Its not like this was Grossman's first call up, or demotion... once you've already started that trend, there's not much to gain by keeping him up here and having him struggle again and again.

More importantly to me, it shows the club doesn't have unlimited patience or loyalty. Willing to make a change when its called for, even if a bit overdue.

Reid said that if Santana makes it up, it will be a September call up

    Reid? Reid Ryan?

Luhnow says they only wake him up for the important meetings...

That being said, he's probably right.

This is fun to keep track of:

1 hit over his last 32 at bats. 0 for at least his last 28. 14 K's in his last 32 at bats as well.

Keep Grossman in the line up. It's entertaining!

No idea how he gets so many more ABs than Hoes. Is it too early to give Wates or Tucker a shot? How long is Pressley out?

Seems to have the same injury that Fowler had. Certainly there are different degrees of severity, but Fowler has been out awhile.

Additionally, Pressley seemed to hurt himself swinging the bat... its going to have to be fully healed without any risk of aggravation before he's activated again, and that could take some time. It's an annoying injury since swinging the bat is what "caused" it, and he can't do his job without being able to swing the bat.

Wates and Tucker are not on the 40 man roster, so their callup is not likely.

Grossman is having some bad luck with a .198 BABIP this season. Now part of that is the fact that he always gets himself into bad hitting counts, but it's still largely bad luck.

Having said that his room for error is low because getting on base is his only attribute. He has very little power, little speed and he is a very bad fielder. If he isn't getting on at a very high clip (at least 36%) he has no value whatsoever.
