How would you do it? (it can be any place that has large amounts of money- casino, armored car, corporate skyscraper with vault, large jewelry store/exchange, whatever). Planning- before, during, the getaway, after, dealing with the money, etc... Go in guns blazing? Dig a tunnel? Create a diversion? Go in solo? Have a team of uber-skilled hipsters? Thugs? How would you do it and get away with it?

I would post on a basketball forum and get advice from the obviously sound masses. I would then forge this plethora of awesomeness into a plan as keen as the sharpest sword, a razor edge with subatomic precision that no fortress could withstand and no amount of investigation, interrogation or sleuthatization could unravel. Oh wait, you're probably already doing that. nevermind.
I'd ask the teller nicely at first. If that doesn't work, I'd complain to the manager. ...yea that's all I got.
It depends on the bank. Each bank has it's own unique heist plan - deception and blueprints play the biggest factors in getaway time. I'd trigger something at another chain about 30 miles away from the target location then do mah business. Would have 3 accomplices, 1 of them with an account at the bank who doesn't appear that day. He's the pawn to get a blueprint of the place and test the reaction time of employee's. I'd have a false alarm about 17 days before the robbery and see what they do. In terms of hardware and concealing identities, that's contingent on the location and size of the bank. I'd load up with rubber bullets for peace of mind - there won't be a need to fire shots but it makes for a more hardcore story to the kids. Kids love heist stories. Girl, you can have anything, na na na, I'll be your fancy car man, na na na, put a diamond on whatever you want, na na na, Jaheim ya feelin that, yeah.
I really like what they did in Inside Man. Spoiler Have 3-4 people dress as painters to sneak into the bank. Lock the door. Make everyone change into the same clothes and masks. Take away all cell phones. Make everyone hostage. Make unreachable demands to the Police, pretending you are going for the cash, while stalling and asking for food. Meanwhile build a tiny cell out of one of the storage rooms. Take out the diamonds in the security deposit box. Have one of the crew hide in the cell. Wait till SWAT come crashing in, mix in with the hostages. Wait a few days, and the case has been closed. Walk out of the bank in civilian clothes like a boss.
Walk in with a dozen guys at a small bank, claim I'm from the FDIC, and they are shut down, lets go sit in the conference room.
I know one thing. I would do it alone. I would also keep it absolutely secret. I read once that something like 90% of bank robbers get caught because someone who knows them turns them in. No one would know it was me because I wouldn't tell a soul.
But for a big operation like bank robbery, it's probably impossible to pull off with just yourself. Hell you can't even carry that much cash by yourself.
We let the little heroes like Xerobull get caught and then do it properly ourselves 17 days later. He's the perfect guinea pig. PM me.
I'm not greedy. I can handle 100lbs of 100 dollar bills easily over a short distance to my getaway hover cycle. That's around 5 mil. There are 490 banknotes to the pound. Since all US money is the same size and made of the same kind of paper, the weight should apply to all bills. Ten pounds is 10 x 490 = 4900 bills. 4900 bills x $100 per bill = $490,000.00 100 lbs is ten times that, or $4,900,000.00
I think it would surprise people how little cash is readily available at a bank, even during the busiest time. Yes there will be some in the vault, but that takes too much time to get to. I would wager that most banks dont want more than 4k in each tellers till at one time. So unless you intend on robbing a bank with 25 tellers working at once, I dont see how its going to be worth it. That and banks always have bills marked. ALWAYS. they will find you.
Thanks for the words of advice, mom. But then again, you live in Idaho, where everyone knows everyone and imaginations are small. You rob a bank in Idaho and you find out someone you're related to lost their job. So you don't do it out of fear. But in NYC. In Houston. In LA. Even in places like Austin and Jacksonville. Distribution of bills through a black market is pretty easy and not as traceable as Idaho.
To disseminate the money, I would make change in areas where the cash floats around and rarely sees a bank, like flea markets. I could probably launder several thousand a day at a big flea market.
I'd take out a bunch of credit-default swaps on the next "oh wow, how did I not see this happening event"--- Greece defaulting is already killed ever since the mainstream media picked up on that scent---but there's plenty of bad money going around. and it's a zero-sum game. I BE ROBBING THE BANKS SON, WITH FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS. (though does it qualify as robbing if the banks get bailed out for their stupidity? eh. guess it's robbing the taxpayers. I BE ROBBING THE TAXPAYERS SON, WITH FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS.)
