thanks, i just got into that ethiopiques stuff over that last few months. i only have 4 and 1. i like 1 better actually, but i brought 4 w/ me on a recent trip to mexico so that made my list. four is a bit more on the jazz tip than 1. i played some for my grandma and she even liked it. what is that jesus and mary chain album-snakedriver? when did that come out?
nice. I got into it because of an elvis costello interview where he mentioned this series. He described it as somehow sounding like van morrision played doubled with swing and jazz in it. Sounded great for me and had worked with you too. Number 8 is very good. Re: Jesus and the mary chain - I made a mistake: the record is called "the sound of speed" and the song "snakedriver" is on it. BUT - I should have put in "Stoned and Dethroned" instead of them instead. There is song on it featuring Mazzy Star (and for her I die). later
Questions: 1. is this the camper van beethoven with song "take the skinheads bowling" on it? 2. Spiritualized: this is the white box cd right - have it too. Amazing, 100 musicians are on it.
yes, it has take the skinheads bowling, but even better has the day that lassie went to the moon. i never saw them back in the day, but i saw them at south by southwest this year and they were great. hopefully they will get back together. the spiritualized record you might be talking about is let it come down. the album credits list about 100 musicians. ladies and gents was the one that came out before it. had alot of musicians, but i dont think that many. dr john plays piano on cop/shoot/cop. ill check out ethiopiques 8. i want more of that stuff.
