Just be glad Vujacic is in Jackon's doghouse otherwise it'd be like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan on the basketball court with Sasha, Fisher, Gasol and Pierce flopping all over the place.
Doesn't make sense that Doc would complain about something that is the bread and butter of his team. Does he really want the refs to take a closer look at screens?
But it is something that changes overnight. At least for the Lakers. All Phil has to do is decide what he's going to complain about and it's guaranteed that the refs will make it a point of emphasis for the next game. Phil complains about illegal screens, there's a ton of offensive foul calls in the next game. Phil complains about Kobe not being treated fairly. The next game Kobe spends the whole night at the line and barely gets called for a foul himself. Phil Jackson has made a career out of working the refs like that.
True but Phil Jackson has also had the luxury of having the best player in the league on his side (i.e. the NBA's darling) on each of his 10 championships. Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, etc. The league/refs will listen more intently when the coach has a cash cow / marketing machine on his side. Rivers, in this case, has no one.
This tatic with Doc is nothing new for Coach's they do this all the time... Called working the refs and all of them have their own different way of doing it. Nothing will change with the refs, they will side with whom ever they have money on or whom ever their friends have money on.... Way of life.. Stern doesn't give a crap and right now he's loving the fact that they are talking about this statement from Doc... Free Marketing... Stern is a Marketing guy and only cares about the bottom line figures and how to Market the NBA...
yeah te celtics to play a little like the jazz but there are some big diffrences. they do not have one of the leads best 3 point shooters and dont have a franchise player in peirce (maybe in williams, but im not so sure) most importantly jazz have no rings!!!!!!!
The way that the officiating has clearly favored the Lakers thus far causes me to not even want to watch the game tonight. I feel it is rigged, and there is no need to even watch and just get frustrated with the pro-Laker officiating. I mean among other grievances against the refs; that is not defense Fisher is playing against Allen, that is assault and battery, and it clearly gives the Lakers an advantage when he is allowed to play like that.
Please explain how it's clearly favored the Lakers. I just don't get how anyone can say the officiating hasn't been FAIR on both sides even though it has been terrible. I don't think the question is whether that it's been fair favoring one team over another, but the fact that they've had so many terrible calls/non-calls.
It's because there are more Laker haters on here than Celtic haters man. I agree that the officiating has been bad for both teams. As far as the free throw discrepancy goes, doesn't it favor the team that attacks the basket more and/or plays more near the basket? Because from what I've seen in Games 2 and 3 (missed game 1), the Celtics have relied heavily on mid-range shots and Ray Allen's penchant for 3s. The only person that's been able to get to the foul line is Pierce and that's because he's good at drawing those calls. If anything, having Bryant on Rondo has rendered Rondo almost useless in the capacity of penetrating and driving to the basket.
I'm obviously a Laker hater but I don't think this series has been blatantly biased towards either team. For the most part the refs are calling way too much crap both ways and just making this painful to watch. That said, I think that the style has definitely assisted the Lakers because the reason the Celtics are so good is that they are very physical. Negate that (through touch fouls) and they lose one of their biggest assets. If, for instance, the refs were being really anal about three in the key, the Lakers would suffer more than the Celtics because their bigs are camped there all day. I hope they just let them play from here on out. And yeah, I think that would help the Celtics in a big way.
Yeah, the Fisher pushing, flailing, and flopping is pretty tiresome. I don't really have a problem with them not calling it as long as they are consistent. But in a game where you are calling every little touch foul inside, you can't let Fisher get away with that crap. I have a feeling he'll be taken out of tonight's game pretty early.
