These Finals are getting simply out of hand... Any thoughts on whether the use of the Replay is good or bad for the league??? Stern seems to be in favor. http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/09/rivers-calls-foul-on-refs/
all this drama seems to be jacking up ticket prices too. http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/08/finals-drama-boosts-ticket-prices/
Yes, wrong forum. But, thanks in no small part to Phil Jax' jacking with refs thru willing and sycophantic media the League's integrity is being called to question in a most Donahee-esque manner.
Agreed, perhaps Doc should employ some of those tactics himself stating for example that maybe all he needs is to nag with the refs a bit more to obtain extended runs against the Lakers...
Wrong forum, but I do agree, the Celtics are getting destroyed by the refs, ESPECIALLY Kevin Garnett. The fouls called against him have been atrocious. The last one in game 3 where Pau flopped (again) has been the worst thus far.
How about letting them play? You can't even set a good screen anymore. It's funny seeing the guy that viciously gave a cheap shot to Luifa, throwing his arms in the air like he got shot with a tommy gun, when receiving little to no contact. It's a disgrace. You get the celtics in foul trouble, and their fast break is gone. Great strategy by the refs and Phil. The lakers don't want any part of a physical game.
I have to agree, although it's been going both ways specifically in game 2 where flopping on the celtics side became "smartest play in the book" once by Allen, Rondo, and that play where the ball went out of bounds off of garnett and was called out on Gasol. Hard calls to make?? Yeah OK!
Don't forget when Gasol shoved him in Game 2 and they didn't even call a foul if I remember correctly.
Doc has been very adamant about the foul calls, rest assured that he will get fined before the end of the finals are over... http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/09/rivers-calls-foul-on-refs/ http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view.bg?articleid=1260608 http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view.bg?articleid=1260608
So I'm assuming the worse the Celtics shoot after the game, the more b****ing Doc will do? The refs didn't cause Ray Allen to go 0 for 13. If Allen would have made just 3 or 4 shots, that would have changed the outcome of the game right there. The reffing has been bad no doubt, but both teams have been getting dicked over on the court. Complaining about the refs when your "Big Three" plays like the Big Third just makes you look like a whiner.
the celtics play just like the jazz but with more talent and way less floppier. They set so many damn picks, some clean and some dirty
Of course you can complain about officials after a win OR a loss. It's just that it's been almost the norm nowadays to complain about the officiating after a loss despite the fact that the players on said losing team had off/terrible shooting nights.
I think really you just whine if you lose. The Lakers whined about the calls in Game 2 because they LOST. If you don't count the free-throws from intentional fouls at the end of game 2, it makes the free throw differential 41-18 in favor of the Lakers. Clearly, they were getting much more calls. But since they lost, they had to b**** about it.
I think my personal beef with Rivers b****ing about calls is that he is in denial that his best shooter went 0 for 13 when, only a few days prior, had one of the best shooting nights in Finals history. The calls were all over the place, for sure, but when HASN'T it been? Sure it's not a problem that coaches, players, fans, and the NBA should sweep under the rug but it's not something that's going to change overnight either. That flop by Gasol in the last crucial minute of Game 3 is akin to that flop RayRay did on Kobe (which got him that crucial 5th foul) in Game 2. And Rivers pretty much has little reason to complain seeing how his #34 flails like a maniac whenever there's a slightest touch and gets to the free throw line because of it.
Yeah and Fisher is flopping on screens as well. When Kendrick Perkins set a solid screen on him and Fisher moved his little bald head like he got hit. Man the Lakers are the toughest vagina's in the league.
