CNN said that this does not seem to have caused near the damage of Katrina, and that is a good thing.

Head home Houston..you dodged a bullet.

Are you disappointed the hurricane missed Houston?

hey mogrod, yall alright over there? power went out here for about seven hours. don't have your new home phone number and your cell says you aren't accepting calls from anybody. let me know if you, your wife, rush, or whoever needs anything if you are out of power or need help getting around. plenty of gas in the car. 713-385-8562

I got home from Tomball about an hour ago. Saw 27 cars abandoned on the side of the road. Very little traffic - normal weekend traffic. Tollway was free ;) No damage at the house.

Well after a very harrowing night and morning, I have survived. I had the pleasure of watching 2 big oaks and a huge pine get knocked over by the wind. One of which anded on my parents neighbors roof they weren't home). I have no idea what my home looks like and I really haven't heard any reports about my neighborhood. I live in an area that is susceptible to flooding but not because of localized rain but because of the close vicinity of a bayou. My sister is a litle worried about her house from the storm surge in Orange. Hopefully I'll be able to get home in the next few days and survey the damage.

Is it a good idea to start driving back from Dallas or San Antonio back to Houston considering that there is no gas and grocery stores are closed? Should people wait until Sunday to return?

I-45 has a huge line of bad storms running straight up it.

The mayor also came on and discouraged people from coming home right now.

My friend just left Austin to Houston and is STUCK IN TRAFFIC already! So I'm assuming everyone is thinking they can drive back early, but everyone is doing the same thing.

I heard there was a hurricane. Do you know where?

Seriously, I feel VERY fortunate. The power flickered around midnight, but that has been it. I have power, internet, phone, water, etc. So, basically a normal day here at home. From what I know, Rush is the same.

My cell was stolen about a month or so ago and I haven't replaced it yet.

Thanks for the offer and I'm glad you made it out ok as well. If you want to call: 281-437-2891.

Whew, what a freaking ride those couple of days were! After being scared, hopeful, worried, depressed, and just about every other emotion one can experience, this thing is finally over. All of that build up and we got hardly anything here on the west side. We did get enough wind to blow a branch on the lines and knock out my power for about 9 hours today, but other than that nothing. It hardly even rained here. We dodged a bullet.

Wow, has this whole thing been crazy. This site has been invaluable for information, as usual. There were times early in the morning when I came on here and didn't feel like the only freak awake and worrying. :)

Okay no here is a very important question. My mom used masking tape on some of the windows and now it's leaving a nice crappy residue and very hard to remove. Im thinking the heat melted some of the glue of it. Anyone know a good way to remove it?

A product called Goo gone, if that doesn't work use a hair dryer to melt the glue and then a razor blade.

Get a product called "Goo Gone" or a similar adhesive remover. It will come out easily.

Okay did a nice google and found that WD-40 and it worked like a charm....

They also said that a mix of vinegar and water works too.

Planned to leave for SA, but glad I didn't. I hope no one got too much damage. As for myself, one of my places had a big tree fall on top of it.
