possible behad sighting? channel two with old rox championship shirt on w/ a truck getting gas? on channel 2. anyway, this sucks. sticking it out here in sugarland. i very vaguely remember alicia from 83 or so. i was 4 or 5. was in atlanta when allison was here. just got finished stocking up at wal-mart on water, juice, and nonperishable stuff. i live right by hwy6 and that place is a MESS. all the folks from galveston and you can't really manuvre around my neighborhood. scared schitless.
I'm watching these models, and it looks like Rita might actually hit LA. On one hand, I would be so glad that it wasn't me that got hit by Rita...on the other hand, the people in LA don't deserve another monster hurricane! If it were up to me, I might take the hit for their sakes. Whatever the outcome, chances are that you see this clutchfan moving north in the next year. We talked about it right after Katrina- these storms are getting bigger and bigger. I was hoping that we would get the chance to head out unscathed...
I'm in west houston, got the whole family coming here now including my 8 months pregnant sister in law. Gonna be a full house, I think we're going to be ok though. I was able to stock up this morning at HEB with lots of water and food. Stay positive everyone, we gotta hang in there.
Gov. Perry is making all inbound traffic highways to outbound now. So in a couple of hours (at the LEAST), they'll open 45south for northbound.
Yea, we may be forced to stay in Missouri City simply because we don't how we would transport my wife's family if we have to go, the massive traffic jam and, oh yea, the fact I have to work all day today. Hey, Omega, you know where I live. So, if we end up staying and you need a place to stay, you are welcome here. We have at least storm windows and doors throughout the house. Email me at mo@houstonlifestyles.com during the day and we can exchange info. IF we leave it won't be untill late tonight.
the ch 2 traffic lady said you might try 59 S to Victoria, and then I37 to San Antonio. For those trying to get out
Everybody who's staying in Houston- Best of luck. My thoughts are with you. I was in Bellaire during Alicia. The eye went right over our house. That was bad. This looks worse. Stay safe.
Has anyone considered heading to Atlanta? Seems like you could head east and then north and not hit as much traffic.
'preciate that man. you're only five mins away, so... perhaps if things get rough. with us not having to deal with a storm surge (i don't think we do... right?) we should be fine. it's good that y'all moved into that two-story place if flooding becomes an issue. i'm shocked that you have to work. my schedule is that i have wed, thur, and fri off, but now it looks like it'll definitely include sat and sun. y'all can give me a call if you need help with moving anything around or whatever. 713-385-8562.
Speaking of which, how smart/stupid would it be to go down to the Rockport/Port Aransas area to ride out the storm? I have a place I can go down there, but don't know if it is smart or not?
All I can tell you is that, sometime around 4 a.m., the wind and rain completely stopped, my brother and I walked out into the front yard, and could see the night sky, and about 30 minutes later all hell broke lose again.
