Wow. What a crazy 24 hours.

My house in Clear Lake looks like we are half way moved out and we kind of are. I am now at a friends in Kingwood. We left at 10 am. I am worried about my house and my parent's house in Seabrook. They didn't get out until later and still are on thr road trying to make it to Cypress. I think we will be safe here.

Does anyone know about the emptying of Lake Conroe???? I heard they did this for Alicia and it floods Kingwood where you can't leave here for weeks. Nobody told me about this when we decided to come here!

I would really like some info about this. We might make the trip to Nacogdoches tomorrow.

My brother is talking to my parents right now. They have made it 30 miles in 2 hours. Wish them luck.

    depression is setting in.

downtown has gotten dark. the idiots in security have not turned the lobby lights on. Dominos will not deliver to me. I did not eat lunch because i wanted to say bye to somebody before she left. i never got the chance too.

didnt the White man say we can go home? I'm the only dumb city worker that hasnt gone home yet.

I don't know if it's just me, but does it look like Rita is starting to move northward?

I know the last day or two it has been moving due west, but just looking at the storm movement it appears to currently be moving more north/northwest.

All of that aside, I just want to say, best of luck to anyone that is within this storm's path.

    My prayers are with everyone.

Just got to Ft Worth- the trip took about 7.5 hours. I've had trips up that have been longer the night before Thanksgivings, so no big deal. Getting out of Houston took about 4 hours, and after you clear Huntsville, it's pretty smooth sailing (70+mph).

If you are planning on leaving, I would reccomed doing it early morning tomorrow, before 4 AM. Any later and you will hit the next phase of evacuees.

Good luck guys, and everyone say a prayer (if that's your thing).

    Good Luck,
Never heard anything about dumping the lake, can't imagine that you would be flooded in that long. Head up to Nacogdoches and pick up a keg along the way.

The ClutchFans BBS server should not be affected by the storm. Neither should the main front page server. Neither are in Houston.

I'm honestly starting to fear the worst. Ugh.

Man, I am so freakin' depressed right now. I'm sitting here looking around at my house wondering if I'll ever see it again. That is just utterly depressing.

I feel hopeful of my personal safety given how far north I will be. I feel hopeful for the safety of my loved one's who will all be out of town.

But, I worry for my house. I worry for my city. I worry for all the people who will be stuck in harm's way. :(

If you have flood insurance, you should be OK with your house. I heard on NPR this afternoon, while almost every household has some type of insurance against natural disasters, only about 25% houses in the Gulf region are actually covered by flood insurance. Insurance companies will go all the way to deny one's claim in the case of hurricane, if they deem the damages are caused by flooding, rather than wind.

I now what you mean, I understand that many of the things are just material, but many hold sentimental value and can never be replaced. Plus no one wants to think of losing personal items, let alone trying to replace them.

I hope you and your pets make it out of this ok jeff, for that matter I hope everyone stays safe and keeps there cool... ...oh, and their stuff.

Man we are in the middle of selling our house. Got a bid and have a closing in November scheduled...now this could mess everything up...everything about this damn storm sucks....

Don't know what to do exactly...it's just me and my mom..everywhere is like booked...i mean what's the point of just driving and hoping something is open down the road.

Just read on www.astros.com that the roof has been tied down... am morbidly interested to see what that looks like. Anyone work there with a photo?

Plus, they're searching for an alternate venue when we're scheduled to host the Cubbies. I love Minute Maid Park. :( Don't want anything to happen to the Good Guys' home.
