Your probably looking at some winds and a lot of rain...I don't see a reason to evacuate unless I lived along or very close to the coast.

My parents drove my grandparents out of Clear Lake this morning ~ the traffic was getting really bad and will only get worse.

So if you must get out do it soon.

Here's to my neighborhood getting ****ed up and flooded, we had 16 inches of water inside my house during Alison, I can just imagine what this is gonna do to my place. Luckily I'm going to stick it out at my friend's house, should be safer, my rents and bro are gonna stay, can't talk sense in to my father, I wish him the best.
Gl to all and g-d bless

I just heard (ch.11) the eyewall is 70 miles wide. Is that unusually wide?

Considering the astrodome's roof is made of some type of glass, any chance that collapses during the hurricane.

And what about the wooden rollercoasters at six flags. I hope those don't get messed up either.

Since Astroworld is closing at the end of the season, this doesn't really matter.

Generally the smaller (i.e.) tighter the eye is the more powerful the storm is -- here is that picture of Gilbert again the most powerful so far...

    The eye is tiny.

It was designed to handle 110-115 mph winds. If its still that strong by the time it gets all the way to Houston, this will be the biggest storm ever.

Wow, the latest projections have the front right quadrant going right through Houston from the looks of it. And if not, then the eye will sandwich Houston with that quadrant. It looks nasty. And my mom and dad living in Mo City don't want to leave... ugh. I asked my mom why the hell she doesn't come up here to Dallas and her response was "well somebody has to work at the hospital during times like this"... somehow I gotta respect that. :)

Good luck guys... I'll be watching and thinking of you folks that decided to stay back.

Can somebody help me out? My aunt lives in League City, in fact her place is about 2-3 minutes from the boardwalk in Kemah. I haven't been able to get a hold of her. I am not worried because I figure either they made them evacuate in that area or she self-evacuated. So who all have they made evacuate?
