I'm in Ponderosa Forest, nearer 1960 than to Cypress Creek but still too close to believe that the flood will magically stop 5 blocks from me
Does anyone know what happens to flights during these things? I've got a flight leaving IAH at 10:00 Saturday morning. Would like to know what happens to that flight if we take a direct hit.
Mandatory evac for Galveston Couty now http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou050920_ac_mandatoryevac.788768d6.html
PER KPRC-TV: "Worse-Case scenario setting up for Houston/Galveston - Expect Carla or Worse conditions" - Frank Billingsley NHC has this storm hitting just north of Matagorda with 135 MPH - some are saying this will be at 150 MPH. A Cat 4 is MAJOR - ANDREW was a CAT 4 and so was Katrina.
wow. i'm stunned. all these meterologists were so convinced this thing wouldn't reach 4...even as early as this morning they're all saying, it's 3 and might very well end up being merely a 2. now they're predicting 4. and upwards. the difference in a low 3 and a 4, from a practical standpoint, is the biggest difference in terms of a one number jump.
worst case for Houston is if it comes in at Freeport. but don't get me wrong..this is still very, very bad.
just bought the last of the plywood they had at lowes on 45 for 28.50 a pop, they mentioned this was there second truck with the stuff and a third is on the way
I'm way out in Cypress, but cat 4 means I'm probably out of here. Question now is if I can get some plywood to cover some of my windows.
usually, all the southwests and continentals get all of thier planes out of town at the last min. might have changed over the past few years since intercon has grown though
