I've had problems with Music Match freezing up in the middle of burning a CD which in turn makes the CD worthless. It's also pretty slow. Are any of these programs free and/or downloadable?
ITunes will convert them to AAC format... Will you convert? No, no, no, no Will you confess? No, no, no, no Will you revert? No, no, no, no Will you say yes? No, no, no, no
EAC is free, however, it's not for burning CDs; it's for ripping CDs (eventually) to MP3 format. EAC actually just rips a song into .wav format (a lossless format that most players can't play). After that you would use another progrem (like LAME) to trascribe the .wav into an .mp3 file. You configure EAC to use LAME and it does everything at once but, as I mentioned, you have to configure EAC which is not the most obvious thing. Here is a link to a guide to setting up EAC (as you will see, it's a lot of work). The benefit is that all your ripped MP3's will be perfect even, in some cases, if the CD is scratched. It might take a long time to accuratly rip a scratched cd (hours and hours) but, if it can be done, EAC will do it. Of course, if the CD is hopeless you are out of luck. Exact Audio Copy Guide (Note: I don't use the "Accurate Rip Database" portion of the guide). If you don't like this guide or want to read other people's description on using EAC do a Google search for EAC and LAME and see what comes up. If you really get into ripping and playing .mp3 files you could try Foobar2000 as your media player. Talk about customizable....
