For personal reasons I'd switch out Ten for Vs. and Dirt for Facelift, but otherwise completely agree. Maybe even purple for core. What a great time for music.
I'm glad I got to see Scott Weiland in concert five times, twice with STP and three times with VR. He was great every time. It's really sad to see him go.
Rip to a very good frontman Wish I had the chance to see stp in concert at full strength back in the day.
Yes, I meant those are all those groups' most famous or signature CDs. Personally, I'd whip out In Utero, Vitalogy, Badmotorfinger, Songs from the Vatican Shop, and Jar of Flies.
I think their sound was different - just like I didn't include Green Day, RHCP, Jane's Addiction, etc. I would put them in some kind of different category. I think the true "Seattle Sound" was those 5- but you're right, IMPO.
good call on these two. my.mistake you were referring to sound not era. There was a period where STP was in your ear night and day. I never bought a single cd of theirs but I always like the line about 'whats real and whats for sale' I know their songs very well.. they are catchy in sort of more smashmouth kinda way vs the others you mention. I would argue a band like nirvana or pearl jam were like the pros compared to STP as a JV team. that said at one point STP dominated the day. they make it back on the list because of this. the references to a substance strong like heroin .. really riding the nipple ring 'I do heroin' train was a bit sad. oh well. but he makes the list. Im sure weiland would argue the sick bits were all worth it too to make the list.not sure how I feel about that but good catchy songs rest in peace.
as i stated in this thread i loved punk music and going to shows. in saying that though i never liked nirvana much (their first two albums were a little punk right ?) and prefer stone temple pilots much more. and some of the radio songs they played were to an extent catchy. take some time and listen to their album purple 5 times or so and you'll see that they were a great band with entire album.
