Got to see them a couple of times back in the day. Good band, good times. He was a damn solid 90's rock frontman, not Perry Farrell or Layne Staley good, but close.

I honestly had no idea he was still alive.

ive never heard that. thank you.

i went out with some old friends tonight and drank a bit. which i dont do too often these days. i saw that scott died and listened to the entire purple album myself.

ive liked all kinds of music in my life. from punk, industrial, hip hop, classical, jazz, tons of different techno music like jungle, two-step, drum and bass, and others. but if eddie vedder ever dies any semblance of my child hood will be gone in those those ways that are hard for me to describe.

music though more than movies, books, art, sports (playing or watching) can bring you back to a time with friends and family more than anything else.

rest in peace scott. you brought joy to millions of people out there in the world. there should be solace in that.

Wow, didn't know he actually did a full-on crooning Christmas album. One of my favorite Christmas covers is STP doing the Charlie Brown song. RIP

RIP Scott Weiland. Saw STP at what was then the Aerial Theater at Bayou Place back in 2000. Great show.

Although not one of the greatest bands of the 90's, they were a good one

I saw Scott when he was fronting Velvet Revolver in 2004. He was thin as a rail and it was obvious that he still had some sort of habit. When he was kicked out of the band a few years later I wasn't shocked. It sounds like he finally succumbed to his addiction. I don't know what's sadder, that he died or that nobody is surprised.

Damn breh, it's been a while since I listened to a STP song. Youtubing their songs now and brought me back to my old college days.

    RIP Scott Breh.

Saw STP a couple times before the first break up then again after they got back together in 08. Great show everytime.

Scott could really front a band when he was on... but when he was off he was way off. Hard drugs will do that to you I guess...

    RIP

Somehow, I don't think he just died in his sleep.

To me, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots were the Zeppelin-Beatles-Stones-Who-Floyd of their generation- not in terms of level of success- in their own way, call it the Seattle sound (even though STP was from San Diego), call it grunge, call it what you want- but those 5 were the kings in that category, and for those few years, they ruled the roost. All 5 of them have several classics and at least one mega-classic album. Time to break out Nevermind, Ten, Superunknown, Dirt, and Core."
