This is what makes me sad …. that's a 10.8 point swing. Ariza was the key cog in this defense on the perimeter. Those cost cutting moves cost them several wins. Shoulda ponied up and paid the tax for at least one of them.
This is why I doubt that its Morey, you people think Morey of all people would add these guys to replace the ones who left, no. Timan may just be cheap and we have to live with that. But if it is Morey, it's possible he underestimated how valuable our wing defenders were and how much the talent of Harden and Cp could pull us through.
already abandoning the defense they worked on all throughout training camp in preseason season in order to install a new one this is really looking like 15-16 Rockets or 12-13 Lakers right now
Surprise surprise. Not really. A few of the more pragmatic among us had been saying this all off-season looking at the moves being made. We sold our defensive identity and chemistry over the summer because Morey was arrogant that he could make any pieces fit around Harden and Paul. It is easy for Chris Paul to say, "Run it back" when he is signing a max contract while watching the other pieces leave. What made it worse is that he then lobbies for his buddy to join the team, a player that is a complete opposite of what we lost! LOL, what a fraud!
Watch the Blazers BIG 3 dominate our little 2? No thanks. I'd rather watch reruns of Bones guest starring Eric Millegan.
We all were worried that losing Ariza and Luc would hurt our defense - boy did it ever. Maybe that's why Bzdelik retired, he saw what was coming and didn't want to see his reputation tarnished.
GS's personnel is also much better for that strategy, but do they switch everything or just mix in switching with their defense?
This resonates with me because I’ve watched possessions this year in which Chris Paul and PJ Tucker have simultaneously blown their defensive assignments. Chris Paul and PJ Tucker.
All true, the question was whether the replacements were adequate enough, and so far they are not. So even if Ariza an Luc had their issues, the problem now would be that MCW, Ennis and Melo have even greater issues.
But didn’t they lose the guy who’s job it was to do that a few days before training camp started? Bzdelic really screwed us there. Hard to overcome major personel changes when the coach in charge of half your team’s strategy quits a few days before camp. Add to that injuries and suspensions, a rough opening schedule, and the big issue no one else seems to be talking about which is why is our team scoring so much less than every other team in the league - and this is what you get.
Replace high defensive iq players with terrible ones that don’t understand the concept of good defense. Surprise. But but upgrades. Better than last year
That happens though, no one is 100 % perfect , what you wont see is either one of them CONSTANTLY getting taken advantage of.
