    Beastmaster ftw.

Payday is a fantastic movie that not many people remember.

fun fact: he was wise enough to transfer out of A&M and go to UT

I didn’t realize that he was 88. If I’d have had to guess I’d say 70-75. He held it together well for an alcoholic and looked pretty young into his 70’s. It’s crazy that he started acting in the 50’s. For some reason I remember him most from Freddy Got Fingered. He was a great actor.

Great comedic actor. It is surprising how long he had been around. RIP

Yes, he was terrific, particularly on Larry Sanders. We watched the show when it was first on HBO and Artie the producer, his character, was hilarious. The show was on for 6 seasons, from '92 to '98. I remember when it ended thinking that it was too soon. We really looked forward to the next season every year. Hard to believe that show ended over 20 years ago. Rip had a long career and he'll be missed. Anyone who's never seen The Larry Sanders Show should check it out. It's bound to be streaming somewhere. You'll laugh. It was/is a satire of Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show.

Everyone who hasn't seen it should watch it! Game of Thrones is over, so go watch Larry Sanders!

I have it on that archaic form of media, the disc. Multiple discs. It's embarrassing.

I have been looking for it periodically and could not find it except on DVD. It showed up a couple of nights ago on my HBO account with the tag line "remembering Rip Torn".

It's one of the funniest comedies I've ever seen in any media. One of the nice things is that the language is MA. Rip Torn's character cusses a blue streak a mile wide, but does it in such a way that it's hilarious. Garry Shandling is doing a satirical take on Johnny Carson, but different enough that he makes it his own. All the cast members are great, some becoming quite famous later in their careers, and the guests are terrific. Tom Petty is a riot! Far too many to try and list. A cornucopia of well known actors, musicians, and comedians, and the format gives them an excuse to be there. Most of the really funny stuff happens behind the scenes. Highly recommended!

Definitely should watch it from the beginning of the series.

All one has to watch is the first episode, where he advertises the Garden Weasel, to get hooked.

If you've never seen the movie Defending Your Life, find it and watch it. Albert Brooks, Meryl Streep and Rip Torn.
