I don't think it crashed into the tree, but ended up next to it.

    This ABC video:
    http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/paul-walker-dead-crash-investigation/story?id=21065827
Shows the bend light post (with a 45 mph speed limit sign) it hit. I think it hits that first and spins out and lands next to the tree.

Also NBC is reporting they were going about 40-45 mph when they crashed. Apparently they hit a bend in which the speed limit drops to 15mph and lost control

So not excessive speeding, but probably 1) couldn't slow down in time or 2) trying to take the turn F&F style. Either way the Widow Maker is not the car you want to be caught doing either it. A lot of professionals comment how hard it is to drive.

40 to 45 mph does that kind of damage? I find that very hard to believe. The car was a crumpled mess.

Yeah, I would imagine that speeds of 70+ would cause that kind of metal bending damage.

Well, unless they are saying the subsequent explosion caused all that damage? The fire would have melted stuff but the car didn't look intact.

    http://nypost.com/2013/12/02/mechanical-failure-behind-paul-walker-crash-report/

"Sources connected to Always Evolving – the auto shop co-owned by Walker and Porsche driver Roger Rodas — told the celebrity Web site TMZ that they saw “evidence of a fluid burst and subsequent fluid trail before the skid marks at the accident scene.”

"The sources said that the lack of skid marks until just before the point of impact suggests the driver didn’t have control of the speeding car’s steering."

Even if you lost all of your fluid instantly (not possible) the hydraulic fluid is just a steering assist and at speeds above 20-30 you can still easily turn the wheel as normal. Most of these cars turn off steering assist at speed.

Skid marks just before the point of impact seems to suggest they didn't realize it was all going wrong until too late.

A key to a good conspiracy theory is would it make a good movie. That theory would be a ****ty ****ing movie.

Man, it's like the death of Han in F & F.

    But in real life.

    Rest easy.
