Pretty funny considering just today Hillary lost the democratic primary in the heartland state of Indiana to a socialist.
You're right, I did. The party has morphed into something entirely different though. We had the crazies (larvae at the time) that just ended up growing into bedbugs. Guys like John McCain were honorable in their candidacy and remain classy in the face of insults by the likes of Trump. This republican party is something new entirely and I am glad I am not a part of it.
The focus over denying climate change, making it a mission to over out of their way to discriminate against gays and minorities is something that has been much more pronounced now. I was and still am a fiscal conservative. That doesn't mean I think the government has the right to have their hands up women's vaginas and how people choose to lead their lives.
Didn't you already claim Obama was a communist? I wonder what Reagen would say about the GOP being infiltrated by a Communist like Trump?
Excellent post, government should not be spending tax payers' money like drunk sailors, but it should not cut every social services and social safety nets. Middle ground is where the truth lies, right now the GOP so far to the right of center that it cannot even see the middle, yet it keeps on calling a moderate democrat president an extremist.
The conservative movement will always be around. The revival could be as quick as five years given their power in state and off season congressional election years. But if they rise up half as dumb and twice as compassionate for the common citizen, then more power to them.
It's been said enough and we all know it, there's not really a need for another thread spelling it out. I think we all saw it coming for at least a week or two minimum.
The only thing I disagree with is discrimination against minorities. The only known racist politicians in this country have been Democrats. For example George Wallace, Woodrow Willson and Robert Byrd.
Even if Trump loses in a landslide and the Republicans lose Congress the party will survive. There is too much inertia and infrastructure for either of the two parties to go under. This election will prompt a lot of soul searching in the party and no matter the outcome it will take a different direction.
I'm interested to see what happens to the Freedom Caucus. Those guys were pretty much the forerunner of the Trump movement and they clashed A LOT with a lot of the top GOP leaders; campaigning against Paul Ryan for Speaker, refusing to pass budgets etc. They were never super popular with the electorate, but maybe with Trump rallying supporters the GOP might turn towards them. Alternatively, it could be the complete opposite and there might be a leftward shift to try to soak up more moderates on the Left. It's a two party system, and it's not like Trump supporters would be voting Democrat.
I'm not sure about that. Doing something like nominating Donald Trump forever tarnishes a name. Even if everything else stays the same, they can't use "Republican" anymore.
lol, southern democrats are modern day republicans. You really think those individuals changed parties and became champions for minorities? There was a shift to where the south became republican, but that name change doesn't change the fact that they adhere to the racist sentiments of the southern democrats of old.
