Maybe the martial arts sequences would have been great, but I don't recall Bruce Lee being that great of an actor otherwise. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing they made the decision because they thought the show would be more successful with Carradine, not because of hatred. RIP Grasshopper. And to suggest "the great one" would still be alive today "if that poser didn't steal his role" is just asinine on multiple levels.
What a pity. Young people may not realize what a big part of pop culture he was back in the day. RIP.
The opening scenes and music in the opening of Kung Fu . . .are classics and as vivid and image in my mind as there were when I watched them. "Grasshopper" "take the pebble from my hand" these are STAPLES in American Culture to me like BMoney said. . so many youngsters will use it without knowing where it was from originally I am sad for his passing. I never Begrudged HIM for something the Producers did. What was he suppose to do . . SAY NO!! GIVE IT TO BRUCE Then you get KUNG FU starring . . i dunno . . .some other white guy playing an Asian. Bottom Line. . I don't thiink Bruce was going to get the job even if he passed on it. I enjoyed the show. I enjoyed his work . Rocket River
from Pulp Fiction Jules: I'll just walk the earth. Vincent: What'cha mean walk the earth? Jules: You know, walk the earth, meet people... get into adventures. Like Caine from "Kung Fu."
Can we PLEASE talk about how a Cuban would have made a better Scarface than Al Pacino? I'm a big Bruce Lee fan, and it's safe to say that he was and is a much larger global cultural icon than David Carradine could ever hope to be. I never saw an episode of Kung Fu, but it's unfair to blame Carradine for not being Bruce Lee.
read on WWTDD that it wasn't suicide... and rocketman1979, relax. not really the thread to be complaining about Kung Fu
E! Online - Carradine's Family, Friends Dispute Suicide Theory It seems like a natural reaction for the family to have disbelief about suicide. But it does seem odd to commit suicide in the nude. In any case, RIP.
lol I suppose a timeout will get across my point. oh...and cause I cant not do this. RIP Mr Carradine, thanks for the many hours of pleasure you provided me watching Kung Fu as a kid
Marilyn Monroe posing herself as a real actress, Hollywood casting her for all those juicy roles for better box office draw.....when there were plenty more well deserved UGLIER actresses available at the time? She deserved her fate BURN HOLLYWOOD, BURN
Bruce Lee became famous enough - far more famous then David Carradine. The show may have had better fight sequences or been more popular, or it could have flopped too. But Bruce Lee made the movies one could argue that David Carradine opened the door by popularizing the genre in America. Anyway, I liked him. As an actor and a person. Surprising that someone such as himself would take his own life. I got to believe he knew something (maybe terminal illness or something) and he just realized it was his time or whatever. That's speculation, but he seemed to be a calm and reflective man.
