Mike Fleming Jr Thu, May 26, 2022, 11:05 AM·1 min read A shocker. Ray Liotta, the terrific actor whose career breakout came in the Martin Scorsese crime classic Goodfellas, has died. Deadline hears he died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the film Dangerous Waters. We will have more details when they become available. Liotta was 67 years old and leaves behind a daughter, Karsen. He was engaged to be married to Jacy Nittolo. Recent turns included The Many Saints of Newark, Marriage Story and No Sudden Move. He finished the Elizabeth Banks-directed Cocaine Bear and was due to star in the Working Title film The Substance opposite Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. He also starred with Taron Egerton in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird. He had his “who’s thar?” turn in the Jonathan Demme-directed Something Wild and got a Golden Globe nomination, and then played banned Chicago superstar Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams. He then quickly followed playing gangster Henry Hill in Scorsese’s Goodfellas, opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in what was to be the defining role of his career. The ruggedly handsome, blue eyed Liotta was a perfect Henry Hill, narrating a tale of his growth into an organized crime gang, the one that pulled off the famous Lufthansa heist at John F. Kennery International Airport in 1978, making off with more than $5 million in cash and jewels stored in the German airline’s air cargo building. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/goodfellas-star-ray-liotta-dies-160516150.html
Damn, RIP Way too young but not an utter surprise. I know he was a lifelong smoker and I think he was a pretty hard partier for a long time. That **** stacks up after a while.
Thank you for your iconic performance in "Goodfellas". I can honestly and safely say no one could have done it better. You nailed it! I'm glad you got back together with your castmates to discuss the film sooner rather than later. RIP
Oh no..... this week just keeps getting worser. RIP, an unforgettable actor. Will never be another mob actor like him, Pesci, or DeNiro.
That's a shame. I always enjoyed seeing him onscreen. There were none better when it came to portraying a really intense/psychotic dude you wouldn't want to cross. RIP
Guessing this is a callback to a joke I'm not getting, but lupus face = malar rash, AKA butterfly rash, which results in a vividly red rash on both cheeks meeting at the nose (reminiscent of butterfly wings). Ray Liotta just looked like too much plastic surgery.
