Good video, better than anything any of the major news outlets over here have managed. Unfortunately, our police are completely emasculated and terrified to do anything in case they are vilified and prosecuted for racism or brutality
Far as I'm concerned, looters deserve any beatdown they get, whatever force is necessary to subdue them. Nothing more despicable then destroying the fruits of others' work.

Yeah, this looks like a bunch of idiots. But, something or someone got these idiots riled up and it isn't just because of one thug being shot by the police. There would be riots all the time if that were the case.
Hmmm not necessarily. Not that I'm saying they are rioting because of the shooting, but over here killings by police are rare. Our police don't carry gunss and anyone killed by police will be huge news

Has it happened with any more frequency lately? I don't doubt that it's a silly one but I'm sure they have a reason for doing this, bigger (at least in their minds) than this one incident. Thievery/looting is one thing but they likely have something in mind that compels them to risk jail time over. Was this thug somehow very well loved within the community?
How diverse is the London's police force? Looking at the video it looks like they are mostly white while the rioters are mostly black and London is one of the most diverse cities in the World. One of the things I learned while I was in Belfast was that for a long time many of the police were Protestants and the Catholics didn't trust them. As part of bringing peace to Northern Ireland there are efforts to make the police force more diverse but there is still distrust of them among the Catholic population.
Given England's history of colonialism I think they have learned that heavy handed police cause more problems than it solves.

Nothing colonial about giving your own citizens a beatdown, especially when they deserve it. Hoodlums attacking police cars? That **** would never fly in US, might not get a beatdown, but you would definitely get subdued and roughed up.
