Season preview by Ringer ranks Rockets 6th. Mentions tension between Morey and Tilman... includes the following https://www.theringer.com/nba-previ...kings-denver-miami-portland-finals-contenders
The jig is up with Tilman. The media has caught on. His name is dropped in just about every *team profile* I have read for the upcoming season. Owners rarely get mentioned in write ups.
During his media tour he mentioned how much his backcourt cost on nearly every stop. Focusing on the $40 Million per player price tag consistently. He referred to the team as his most expensive toy on a trash youtube channel he had no business being on. Not only is he frugal. He's gauche. Still a lot of avenues to duck the luxury tax this season and I suspect he'll seek them.
It will be very interesting to see if he somehow accidentally avoids the tax again this year. I think he will find a way to avoid it and act like it just happened unintentionally.
Easier than that most likely. I'm guessing the team is working behind the scenes for cap exemptions on Gerald and Nene as we speak and I believe that gets the team below the tax. All they have to do is stand pat even as the team's lack of length will continue to be an issue. I'd love to get a nice serving of yoke on my face on this one but there's only 3 hours left to prove that Tilman only cares about his bottom line, just like the Ringer stated.
He’s right. There’s, somehow, still dudes on this website that defend Tilman’s actions as owner thus far.
