Come on, thumbs, Kos has never even posted anything as downright offensive as this. You may not like Kos' bias, but FYI, I don't look at his site any more than I do NewsMax. Neither do I watch CNN, MSNBC, or Fox. All of the 24 hour "news" networks are more entertainment than news and in the case of MSNBC and Fox, just fan the partisan flames. I think we would have much more constructive discourse without those two at least.

Thanks for bringing this up - I did a google search and it does indeed appear that McChrystal is being insubordinate by taking his issues with military policy to the press. Many bloggers (I'm assuming left-leaning ones) are comparing him to MacArthur and are suggesting he should be canned in order to send a message. I don't know if I'd go that far, but it might behoove Obama to remind McChrystal and Petraus of proper procedure.

This topic probably deserves its own thread, but not sure if there's enough interest.

Agree, except for the part about the Daily Kos not printing stories as downright offensive.

This is really just a continuation of wingnut fantasies that reached the apex after 9-11. Recall that there were a bunch of wingnuts shouting down criticism by saying it would serve the dissenters right if Islamic Radicals took over the US, submitted the country to Sharia law and executed the people who were arguing against Bush administration policies. Of course, they never realized that they themselves would be executed under the same scenario... they just got off on the idea that a bunch of Americans who happened to be Liberals would be tortured to death by our nation's enemies.

    Here's the most prominent example...

But there were many more and wishing torture and death on someone or their family was a typical wingnut retort back in the day.

Now, it seems this sick fantasy has morphed to where the military is the strong force of justice and any coup would only hurt Liberals while leaving the wingnuts free to shape the country in the way they want.

This whole thing is sick. Really sick.... and proves the lie that these guys care a damn about Democracy and the institutions of this country. They fantasize about the death of Americans they perceive as their political enemies. They get off on the idea that American cities that vote Democratic will suffer ruin. Then, they proclaim how patriotic they are. Unbelievable.

Now thumbs, you know you're not going to get off disagreeing with the claim without posting an article that is as offensive, right?

Obama should fire Petreus just like Truman did. This guy is more interested in setting himself up to run for president than he is obeying the civilian commander in chief. For all those so concerned about the Constitution, how about it? Thumbs?

A new thread would be good
, but right wing nuts wanting a military coup should perhaps be merged with the teapartier thread or the birther thread or one of the Palin threads.

I'm not going to raise my blood pressure by slogging through the Daily Kos any more than I would Newsmax. However, their coverage of the Palin children would be a start if you want to go there.

I agree that would be entirely Obama's perogative -- with no questions asked.

What coverage of Palin's children could possibly be equated to a suggestion of a military coup of the United States?

We were talking "outrageous" rather than a comparison of venues.

    Okay, let me rephrase:

What coverage of Palin's children could possibly be as outrageous as a suggestion of a military coup of the United States?

Enough. Let's get to areas of discussion that have more meat than sauce.

Perhaps next time you'll consider having some evidence because you claim that the "Daily Kos would exhibit the same level of principles". Right now, you just look like a typical winger that says things that have no foundation of substance.

Yes, opinions of right/left-based publications don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but you cannot just make a statement and then when asked for basis, you simply say "eh, it doesn't matter anyway". Period. You lose credibility. You look bad. You don't want that, do you?

Now shut me up by showing me an article from Kos that as is "downright offensive" as insinuating an inevitable military coup of the country.

Then it looks like I'll have to face losing credibility then.

    Duly noted.

FYI... I did a quick search of DailyKos for any stories or diaries with the words "Bush" and "assassination" in the last 6 years. I quickly skimmed all 269 titles that had at least 200 comments. Of those, I looked at the comments in about 20 that had intriguing titles. If there is anything close to calling for a military coup or assassination of Bush, it must be buried, because I saw nothing close. I saw a lot of discussion about how to take back the government by legal means, I saw a lot of discussion of Bush's Black Ops policies, a few threads wondering what the Founding Fathers would do, the Bhutto assassination, Tillman, various Al-Q plots, and other stuff that happened over the last 6 years, but again, I did not see anything close to what was printed by NewsMax.

Clarification: The stuff posted under the main banner is solid. Some of the diaries can be a bit off, but they usually get shouted down fairly quickly.
