Slow down people... I need to correct something right away before this thread spirals out of control...

Obama is a Kenyan citizen. He is not Nigerian.

    OK, thanks. Carry on.

As best as I can piece it together, it all started with this image:

A giant walrus (?) looks anthropomorphically like he's smiling/happy when a bucket is in his possession; in the next shot, it appears he is distressed, when a usurper comes to take his prize. Behold, an internet meme was born, and hilarity ensued.

(It really doesn't make any more sense, even if that is indeed the origin.)

On a related note, I’ve been reading on a couple of blogs that McCrystal (and presumably by extension Petraus) has been at best passive aggressively insubordinate to Obama along the lines of MacArthur in Korea, and the Republicans have been doing everything possible to egg it on.

The politicization of the military command is a dangerous thing. There is a reason that they have traditionally been rigidly apolitical in the USA. By supporting this sort of behavior, legislative Republicans are seriously playing with fire.

This is not very significant. He's a no-name writer for a no-name internet publication. The interwebs allow a lot of dumb, crazy people to accidentally be heard.

Obama wants to help give poor and middle class people more affordable health care and they think they are being oppressed

and that movie was british-made, wasnt it?

it seems that the people who are calling the loudest for this type of stuff were the very ones who called anyone who criticized any of bush's policies anti-american terrorist sympathizers who were emboldening our enemies in the 'war on terror'.

people protesting bush were arrested for wearing t-shirts, but now you can bring guns to obama speechs and make veiled death threats and its ok?

obama isnt even in office for a year and all these disgruntled republicans are calling for freaking revolution, secession, coups, making death threats towards the president (teabaggers bringing guns to speeches and carrying signs saying 'we came unarmed this time '. why? because he wants to overhaul health care (which he apparently really doesnt)? because of the stimulus package (which bush did first)? because of out of control spending (which bush takes the cake on).

8 years of bush and NOW all of a sudden all these people are up in arms? NOW, all of a sudden yall are for limited government? NOW, all of a sudden yall are fiscal conservatives? it just rings hollow to me.

where were these people when bush spent more than all previous presidents combined. tripled the size of the federal government. gave corporate bail-outs to his cronies (like obama). trampled on our civil liberties (patriot act, anyone).

I suspect many of them simply think he's a citizen of the country of Africa.

I don't think anyone believed there was a credible threat of this, but it's interesting/troubling that these kinds of ideas are being put forward.

Maybe they should just have a tea party instead of all this crazy military coup talk.

I have to admit that it is nice to see that even a rag like NewsMax has limits and will pull down crap that crosses a line. It may not be the same line that I would have drawn, but at least they have a line drawn.

What do you want to hear? A lot of people in this country are uninformed, blindly partisan idiots. Still doesn't mean that Obama isn't owned and controlled by the same corporations and bankers that bought Bush. Instead of constantly arguing about which 'side' of the country is dumber, how about we just fix the problem?

Well, my point is that it's not very troubling. If I wasn't at work, I could google around and find blogs and fringe group websites with ideas six times as dumb, crazy, unfounded, and offensive as this.

Now if the Daily Kos would exhibit the same level of principles. Both would still be low but on the right track. ;)
