You'd be suprised what people do when they have little to lose, when they don't have that hope (lacking a future) they let the hate come to the forefront and all hell breaks loose. Things arn't nearly bad enough (economically) for this to happen.......but the ingredients are.

That's not fair. Cordell Walker had Clarence Gilyard as a partner.

Liberals calling critics of Obama racists, how mind numbling trendy and predictable. Go watch The Office and shut your mouth.

There were plenty of people who wanted Bush overthrown while he was President.

Unless you're talking about how this group is asking for a military coup, which I don't remember happening with Bush (except for Sowell in the NRO).

... because there's some other logical reason as to why someone would claim a potential military coup during this particular presidency?

Okay, it's probably not racism, just the continual rampant stupidity among that group. I agree with you.

It's predictable because there's still a ****load of ignorant people and others willing to disingenuously use and prey on racial fears and pick at race-related wounds- that's nothing new and has been true for centuries.

Your posting career here is off to an auspicious start.

Kind of off topic, I remember hearing reports about people cheering in the movie theater in "Independence Day" when the First Lady died. The real first lady at the time obviously was Hilary

This is old stuff, been going on since the beginning of the country; Shayes Rebellion, Whiskey Rebellion etc...

It's just now days if anyone is stupid enough to try something like a coup they would get the same thing Iraq got.

The US military would not even try to stage a coup, I think intelligence is to advanced for that to happen.

People who think this way, should move somewhere else.

Thanks for the link basso, though I'm not sure what relevance it has to the question at hand. I've read a lot of Vidal and the guy is a little crazy, but also brilliant and has forgotten more about this country's history than you and I will ever know.

    I particularly like this quote:
    and this one...

Good point. The people most angry at Obama tend to be from the south, tend to like to talk about secession and just happen to be unable to let go of the ridiculous idea that he is a Nigerian citizen.

No way these types of people could be just a little racist

Actually there weren't - if you do some searches, you would find every single "impeach bush" thread (by the way, completely different from a military coup) generally peters out when somebody reminds the threadstarter that Dick Cheney is the alternative.

This all reminds me of this creepy mfer in dress uniform calling for a martial overthrow of the government, which for some reason I ran across earlier this year. He claimed he represented a significant movement within the ranks, which does not in any way seem reasonable:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zGHlvnqPdH0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zGHlvnqPdH0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

They may be only pawns in the overall game, but yeah, racists have kind of an excellent track record on fulfilling their threats with violence. Usually under cover of night, with the safety of numbers, or from the safety of a sniper's vantage point, which might be considered cowardice, but a bullet's still a bullet.

Umm...no. Nowhere in the constitution does it give you the right to overthrow the government. But yes, yes they are stupid.

So who did this guy used to be? 'Cause on the one hand his posts are abrasive and ill-informed, but on the other hand his signature led me to this video of Joan Jett raincoat-flashing a bikini, and I was either not born yet or way too young to appreciate the first go-around.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XELpxApT8Kc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XELpxApT8Kc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Plus, his nom-de-bbs just lends itself to bukket-ready images of animals/objects with their heads buried in the sand. So, all in all, it's kind of a wash.

True, it was a piece of FICTION.

Are you still trying to somehow equivocate the two?

Tend? You think people who disagree with Obama TEND to want secession and think he is a Nigerian? Isn't that a pretty bold statement? I thought it was a pretty small minority that actually believed those last two things.

Yes - a british independent film not released or distributed in the US is basically the same thing as writing a column urging a military coup.

It's the same as how a portly 52 year old posting on an internet basketball message board about his superior morality and patriotism is basically the same as a soldier serving in Iraq. Both the same!

They wanted him overthrown via impeachment for the most part. I'd love to see anything regarding anyone suggesting a military coup of Bush.

This isn't the right thread I know, but can someone explain the bucket references to me? The walrus and the bucket is hilarious, but I'm not familiar with the reference.
