The Rockets went 7-6 during McHale's abscense. Wouldn't qualify that as a "great job". Good job, but not great.
It was pretty darn good at the time. And I repeat, if Sampson is being considered by the new head of Philly BB the old 2nd in command at the Rox then I believe the report to be valueless and not worthy of the time given it here.

Sampson's smoking gun was being caught lying about it, not doing it. OK, doing it, too. KS wasn't changing transcripts, offering illegal inducements or the like. He and his staffs at OU and IU were 'just' overly aggressive in their contacting. The man was wrong yet his sins pale v so many others'.
A source cannot be any less credible, but doesn't seem like people here have trouble at least questioning the legitimacy, especially since the writer himself doubts the source.
