Yeah you think a 18 year old Vspan could have benefited from a good shooting coach and developed a Steve Novak like shot by now. Never, but maybe in an after life. I think you're missing the point. Just because you are 17 or 18 and have plenty of time to grow and improve, there are still limitations. You could have projected Lebron to shoot the ball better once he got to the NBA, but shoot it like Larry Bird, that's an unrealistic expectation. Larry Bird could have won an NBA 3 pt. contest when he was in High School. And you cannot really go from having a 24" vertical at the age of 17 to having a 40" vertical at the age of 22. Shawn Kemp was dunking a basketball in 7th grade. I really like Rubio and know he will improve and probably turn in to a special player. But let's not get carried away and say because he is 17, he has time to do everything as well as anyone before him. I think this is a fair assesment by Hollinger. Ricky Rubio The Pete Maravich comparisons are fun, but Maravich averaged 44 a game in college and I'm not sure Rubio could score 44 in a gym by himself; he shot 28.1 percent for the tournament. Instead, let's go with Jason Kidd comparisons because the Spanish phenom sees things that other people don't, even at the age of 17, and he's an absolute pest on defense.
