Just to be clear, I don't want to be lumped in with all of the People jocking Rubio.

I agree Rubio's been awful for the last year or so, so the jury is out on him to say the least.

I said if the Rockets were given the opportunity to trade Brooks, for Rubio's rights, I'd roll the dice. Why? This team needs to take some chances, Brooks is due a hefty pay raise(depending on what happens with the new cba) and Rubio has a pretty high ceiling.

I'm a fan of Brooks, I'm just tired of the status quo.

Yep. Rubio would help from a marketing viewpoint. AB needs to go for a bigger payday.

neither. need to set eyes on chris paul or deron williams, who most likely won't stay with their teams.

Why would either leave their teams for a team that's worse than theirs?

We are rebuilding son. It's time to wake up.

Brooks doesn't play defense well .... he is undersized .... not an efficent player ..... he is not a gifted passer.... he pouts and will be a free agent and thinks he deserves a big payday....

Fair to say I would deal Brooks for Rubio

Here's a five team blockbuster proposal:

    1. Houston trades:
    Brooks (to Minnesota)
    Jordan Hill (to Denver)
    Chase Bud (to Denver)
    Battier (to Sacramento)
    J Jeffries (to Sacramento)
    $3 million (to Sacramento)
    2012 NY pick (to NY)
2011 pick swap option released (to NY)

    Houston receives:
    Rights to Rubio (from Minn)
    Wilson Chandler (from NY)
    S Dalembert (from Sac)
And gets under luxury tax, as unsigned Rubio counts $0

    2. New York trades:
2011 1st pick and 2013 1st pick (to Denver, return of 2012 pick frees up these two picks to trade)
    Wilson Chandler (to Houston)
    Anthony Randolph (to Minn)
    Eddie Curry (to Sac)
    $3 million (to Sac)

    NY receives:
    Carmelo (from Denver)
    2012 pick back (from Hou)
2011 pick swap option released (from Hou)

    3. Denver trades:
    Carmelo (to NY)

    Denver receives:
    C Bud (from Houston)
    Jordan Hill (from Houston)
    NY 2011 and 2013 1st round picks
And gets under the luxury tax, a savings this year of $13 million

    4. Minnesota trades:
Rights to Ricky Rubio (to Houston)

    Minnesota receives:
    Brooks (from Hou)
    A. Randolph (from NY)

    5. Sacramento trades:
    S. Dalembert (to Houston)

    Sacramento receives:
    Battier (from Hou)
    J Jeffries (from Hou)
    Eddy Curry (from Hou)
    $3 million (from Hou)
    $3 million (from NY)

I'll take Ricky Martin for AB at this point. Dude can't even catch an inbounds pass.

I think Brooks has reached his potential in the NBA and wont get much better. He has everything but size and you cant all the sudden learn to be bigger.

Rubio has the potential to be special , he's no where near that now but the potential is there not to mention he's 4 and a half inches taller than Brooks.

I'd do it strictly on the potential of Rubio and as you say , this franchise needs to take some chances , roll the dice on young players who could be game changers. They arent going to get that player thru the draft. If giving up Brooks , as much as I like him , is the cost of the opportunity to sign an elite talent I have to jump on it.

    Aaron Brooks.

    Easy.

Rubio hasn't accomplished anything in America.

I say go for it. The Rockets aren't going anywhere with this team, might as well rebuild and get a high-potential starting point guard.

Ricky Rubio has never been the Euroleague MVP. I'm not sure where you heard that he was a 2 time Euroleague MVP, but that certainly is incorrect. In his Euroleague career so far he has never been considered anything more than an average player - and that might even be a bit generous.

You can see just how "good" of a Euroleague player Rubio is for yourself:

    http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?pcode=LFW&clubcode=BAR&seasoncode=e2010

In the Euroleague, Ricky Rubio = what Rafer Alston was in the NBA. He's the Euroleague version of Rafer Alston. He sure is not the Euroleague version of Steve Nash, which is what is implied by stating incorrectly that he was a 2 time Euroleague MVP.

American hype says Rubio is the Euroleague Nash. However, reality and truth is that he is the Euroleague Rafer Alston. I am sure that Minny does want to trade him very badly.

I am sure they are hoping to get something from him and they probably target Morey because of how he talked about Rubio before. You see, before Minny drafted Rubio, I would say that Khan had never seen him play.

Since then they have probably been taping all of his games and now realize that he's barely even an average player in Euroleague. So they are probably trying to dump him as his value keeps dropping.

If the Rockets want the Spanish version of Rafer Alston, then by all means trade for Rubio. It's not Lowry or Brooks are ever going to be the answer at point guard. But everyone needs to understand what kind of player Rubio is.

He's basically a bit taller (maybe an inch) Rafer Alston, with longer arms, and a lot less shooting range. Since Brooks is a free agent it would not be a bad trade at all. But I don't think for a second that any draft picks or anything else should be included.

Basically, Rubio is the most overrated Euroleague player amongst the American NBA fan base in history. It's actually a bit bizarre really. He's just considered another player in Europe to be honest. He's good enough to come in and take the Rockets point guard spot, but understand what he is. Basically, Rafer Alston with less shooting range. Personally, having seen him play many, many times in Euroleague I do not think he is the answer for the Rockets at all. But if Brooks is going to leave anyway it would be a good trade then. As long as the Rockets don't give up more than that.
