Somewhere TMac is crawling out from under his bed to breathe a sigh of relief (albeit a temporary one...).
wow... our best player is top 20 if used. He is the best scoring big man and second best center. I dont know what you were watching but Adelman clearly went away from his best player in this game. What makes it worse is that Yao Ming played the entire 3rd, start of fourth, and only came out with like 4-6 minutes left. Not only did he not come in at the end of game but when he was in he did not touch the ball. Like the original poster said, Yao had like 2 shots and was stationed at the free throw line. Adelman clearly does not know how to use Yao. He has to go if the team wants any success. In the playoff's the teams best players step up. If we dont even use ours than we will never get out of first round. I hate to admit this but the team wont get out of first round unless they change their offense. Something i dont see happening. Yao needs to be the focal point but he is clearly not at 13.3 shots a game.
That is so incorrect. A big key of great coaching is dividing minutes up. Look at KOBE EVERY ****ING TIME HE PLAYS HOUSTON...... 4TH QUARTER HE KILLS US, BECAUSE HE IS ****ING RESTED..... but noooo we play yao the first 16 minutes of the game???? **** i'm so pissed
I have to agree with you. It is pretty hard to understand an idiot from a normal person's view point.
Did you hear what Mark Jackson said when he saw this? Man, every word he said implies "RA is an idiot".
brilliant point and rant ..ok my guesswork is what RA doing right now was just follow the Rocket's boss blue print..maybe they want to reduce yao's status so that they may possibly devaluate yao's big contract next year
The Lakers did a good job of meeting Yao early and keeping him from posting deep on the low block. When he got post catches, he was looking to pass it out more than shoot the ball.
It's not about shots only. It's about touches and where they touched it. Kobe simply doesn't need to shoot since Rockets couldn't score anyway. But Kobe got the ball in his hands plenty of time. On the other hand, the plays Rox ran to get Yao the ball in low pose can be counted use your fingers.
Honestly, I think the problem is Yao. He's just not good enough to be that "pound it into him" type of Center. IF he can get position down low, Yao is very dangerous. Unfortunately, there are times when he just can't do it. I mean, DJ freaking Mbenga manhandled him tonight...
Yeah. Yao doesn't touch the ball nearly enough and I bet if there were a stat for shots in the paint it'd be less than 10per game which is ashame figuring how Yao is dominating down there this season. It's almost like Yao is in his prime and it's being wasted.
And the last couple games, he's been throwing up weak shots around the basket when he's close. When he's at the rim, his attitude should be this is a dunk or a foul. He's rushing shots like he's Chuck Hayes and he's afraid of it getting blocked.
You need to stop listening to Mark Jackson. He didn't get manhandled by Mbenga. The times they actually slowed the tempo down and allowed Yao to catch up and be a part of the offense, Mbenga was called for fouls.
Adelman isn't a bad coach, he's just not the right coach for Yao. If we simply went to Yao every posession and fed off of him (not saying this isnt the right thing), then that wouldnt be Adelman's offense, it would be JVG's pretty much. Adelman's offense is free flowing, react as you go, for the most part. So in a way No Adelman isn't going to get his players to do it every time because he relies on the players doing what they think is best. the problem is the offense is mismatched. you have players who work well in a balanced offense, with guys who work well as the center of the offense, with guys who work well being a minor part of the offense, with a coach who's offense is balanced. They can get away with this most of the time because individually, we've got some talented players, and a lot of them. But their never going to be able to turn the offense on whenever they need to until all the players AND the coach fit. -Adelman has to go because I doubt the team will trade Yao over firing Adelman. -Have to let ron go because as much as we need his toughness, his style is too overpowering and takes away from Yao. -we need to add some legit and consistent shooters, maybe one or two. Replace Barry with one, trade cook for one. -finally get a long PF/C to replace Deke since this should be his final season, the new guy would get a lot moremins than deke since he'll be younger and will compliment Yao well. That's what is needed, and well of course a new coach, which may be difficult, but I'd like to give Mario Elie a shot. If we want to save time and trouble, just keep adelman, but get the shooters, let ron walk, and get a long PF/c, those are MUST HAVE.
