you know how the united states spends over half a trillion dollars on the military each year? well i'm sure they could scrounge up about 50 billion of that and bring it on down to austin and then we'd say "my bad" and that would be that.
That's funny. I think that the Democrats are now trying to rewrite what supply side economics is. When there is an economic problem, they'll supply billions. Just look at the Obama mortgage initiative. The government is supplying billions of dollars to mortgage servicers and banks to modify failing mortgages. All they had to do was pass the bankruptcy reform. Nah...I guess just handing out money is the better idea. Supply side economics...I just can't stop laughing.
Pathetic. It is so infuriating to see a high ranking elected official help perpetuate the 'dumb, ignorant cowboy redneck' stereotype Texas sometimes gets from the rest of the country. Not too mention nothing says 'patriotism' like threatening to leave. I love my state and my country, Perry. Screw you.
Texas v. United Socialistic States of America!........Texas is so awesome a state, we could pull it off...Seriously, when I worked at the airport (when I lived there) I have heard the French people say they couldn't stand Americans, but loved Texans....! (yes, this was b4 W in case you were wondering)
So I guess Rick Perry is out of the running for the Clutchfans "most patriotic" contest? Love it or leave it, right Rick? How long did we hear that crap during W's administration? Love it or leave it.
I imagine they would be invaded like the last time it happened, and I imagine their economy would collapse once the rest of the US cut off trade with them (assuming it was just one state). If it was half the country, that would complicate things more.
What is so wrong with seceding? I remember a certain 13 colonies seceding from the most powerful empire in the world, and low and behold those 13 colonies became the most powerful nation in the world.
Sure a state like TN or South Dakota couldn't pull it off, but seriously Texas probably could. Texas would have the 6th or 7th largest army in the world. A big waterfront for trade ports. Much land and resources... BTW Major, I know this talk is silly, but in a serious "what if" scenario don't you think Texas would be the best able to pull off being independent successfully or what other state is better due to various factors?
Holy cow, Yao may soon have to factor in the prospect of listening to two national anthems 82 times or 6-12 times per (regular) season when he is to sign a new contract.
I'm all for the US busting up at this point. Seems pointless to try and keep together a bunch of regions that pretty much have nothing in common and some that basically hate each other.
