What I liked from the game was the huge adjustments Adleman did against Phoenix this time around, if was the defense or the way they used Yao. Adjustments like these will be what we need come playoff time. Something Van Gundy was so stubborn to do, example the Utah series. Now I have to admit he did not have the talent to do so at the time, but it seems Rick is willing to adjust right away.
To be fair, JVG did make adjustment against the Suns. He started Steve Novak, remember? But it was a disaster and Novak never saw the light again.
It wasn't just our defense, but our offense was greatly improved. Instead of standing on the perimeter and shooting jumpers, we forced the Suns to play defense. We didn't make it easy on them by settling for open jumpers. You make them play defense and sooner or later all that running up and down is gonna catch up to them.
JVG was never going to be able to attract any of these players to come and play for him, not Bonzi, SF, or MJ.
