He could make a damn good 6th man. Those guys don't typically play much defense anyways. That being said something about him rubs me the wrong way not sure what it is.
josh smith and oj mayo in the offseason. and see if we can get a defensive 7ft veteran lin/beverly harden/mayo parsons/delfino jsmith/smith/jones asik/veteran are you ****in kidding me? game over
Without Mayo, Dallas would have been worse than Phoenix at the start of the season. Mayo singlehandedly kept Dallas afloat until Dirk came back. They weren't good, but they were still better than other WC bottom feeders.
If we got Mayo, he would end up being the starter in the backcourt with Harden and Lin would become the 6th man.
I take such pleasure in this quote: The fact that the biggest game of the year for the Mavericks is just getting past .500 is awesome.
Having O.J Mayo off the bench for Houston would do wonders and I mean wonders.. He'd be like our J.R Smith from New York.
Mayo is going to want to be paid like a starter and that would be a contract that screws with your cap. Thanks but no thanks.
LOL @ everyone here thinking Mayo would the PERFECT 6th man. He's a Free Agent this season. Unless nobody pays him more than 3M a year he'll make too much to be just a 6th man.
Man I don't follow the Mavs, and last I heard, Mayo became "The Man" in Dallas instead of Dirk (especially since he was hurt early in the season). He better be careful. This sounds a lot like the Toronto game for McGrady. City will turn on him if they already haven't.
There is some talk that he'll accept his option this year because he's kind of hurt his stock. If he had played the rest of this season how he started he would have been PAID big time paid (and Mavs could probably be in the playoffs.) but as it is he's a role guy. A starter on some teams or a luxury guy you have coming off the bench.
He doesn't do well unless he's the focal point of the offense. He's shown that with the Grizzlies and now with the Mavericks.
