Rick Brunson once played for the Adelaide 36ers. Somehow this doesn't make me excited about his potential contribution for the rocks....

Brunson will not help much. Tim Thomas would have been a better pick up. Currently, Phoenix is looking to pick up Thomas. I just do not trust the judgement of the Rockets' talent evaluators over those of the Suns' management.

Because they have proved they can play as they do in the NBDL in the NBA... Because they have experience and have averaged 5+ assists in 25 minutes like Brunson. Yeah upgrades.

Our PG getting assists is not the problem....our offense runs through TMac and Yao....we need a PG who can be consistent, but most importantly hit a WIDE FRICKEN OPEN shot.

Because that is what our PG gets...lots and lots of wide open shots.

Well duh it goes through T-Mac and Yao, that's why we picked up Brunson who is a proven player in the NBA. Rafer doesn't get "lots and lots of wide open shots", it's in his hands most of the time and the only time he gets it back is when it is passed back to him. It's the SG's and SF's that get the wide open shots, this move benefits Head, Bogans, and T-mac.

If this is so then it must just be to show JB that JVG keeps his word and for no other reason.Does this mean that we will tank from now on? It indicates that we have just downgraded the team instead of making a serious effort to upgrade. At the worst I thought that they might have given Spree a try out for the rest of the season!!

So we signed the guard version of Ryan Bowen? Now i'm really excited.

All this really means is Gerald Fitch is useless and we essentially gave away Derek Anderson for nothing.

We gave away Derek Anderson so he won't be sitting at home earning his paycheck when he takes the player option.

I know it's a real shame Derek is tearing it up with the Heat...

Ummmm, last night Rafer was a SMOKING 2-8 from 3pt land...all of them WIDE STINKING OPEN !!

Yes, it is when it comes back out to him, he has to hit it.

Just like Cassell did, and Kenny Smith, etc..etc..etc...

Rafer is a bad shooter, Brunson is a bad shooter.....JVG somehow thinks he can build a team of role players to compliment Yao and Tmac on defense, but he sacrifices offense for those players.

That is this teams problem...it ain't defense, it is offense...all year it has been offense, it is painful to watch this team go through long scoring droughts game after game.....many of them with low energy.

We need more bulldogs on the floor....Chuck Hayes is that type of player and Bogans too (once he learns how to shoot).

We need killers and shooters....maybe we can get one in the lottery this year, cause that is where we are going with this JVG and CD built team.....

I think I'm giving up. :( It's getting increasingly harder to be pumped about this playoff push, and it's not about the losses. The team isn't clicking, we're not shifting into the next gear like we should ... we're still flatfooted. We're better, we beat teams we normally should beat but we don't have the fire...we're not stepping up to the challenge of bigger teams. Lots of soul-searching to do. The personnel moves aren't encouraging either - other than signing Bogans and Hayes, nothing exciting has happened. Oh well, I'll continue to support my Rockets to the end.

Dude, you sound more and more like JVG himself.

Rick Brunson. Whatever. Another player who's played under JVG before. We've seen enough of that.

There were 5 or so teams trying to acquire him at the deadline. Sure, he's had his injury issues but he's still a talented player who could help a lot of teams. You don't just GIVE AWAY a player, regardless of whether he plays or not.

That's like saying Indiana should have just given away Artest simply because he didn't play. Artest is obviously light-years better, but still involves the same degree of faulty logic.

You're right. Maybe I feel some of the same things JVG feels.

Many teams knew we would waive him if we didn't trade him, primary reason he had no value and that we would all have to assume we can't get anything for him. Why trade for someone when you pick him up on waiver? We were lucky to have traded Derek Anderson and get rid of his contract. It's as simple as that.

Who cares if he can spell? :D

He turns 34 in June. That is about three years younger than Jon Barry!

    Whoo-hoo! A youth movement!

I have a feeling this will be a dumb signing with no reward. I would want a defensive minded, all intensity, pass-first pg more than anything.

Alston's shortcomings are his long range shooting and his entire defensive game...
