I for one was always on the fence with JVG, kind of a love hate relationship. As time grew the more and more I could not stomach to hear or see anything JVG. But it was last year's underachieving season and playoffs that I could no longer support him or his ideals. Injuries hurt us last year, I understand that. JVG didn't make things better, he could of got Bonzi in shape buy poking him with a cow prod if he had too, to get him on the court. He was a bargin and doesn't help us in the locker room on a bike. We sure could have used him against the Jazz. He did not help our point guard situation any better by banishing V-span to the JVG Dungeon. He ran the legs off are the first 6 players on the roster, never developing any chemistry without them. He basically put shackles on every player that comes within a 5 mile radius of him. Always trying to put square pegs in round holes and never playing to the strengths his players, always trying to mold the players into what he believes they should be. Yes we did make the playoffs, big deal! Did JVG make any adjustments? No!!! We went on a great stretch while Yao was injured, was that because of JVG? It was because T-mac stepped up without Yao in the lane. It was forced on JVG, he would have never moved Yao from out of the paint, except to chase the other teams offensive players or set a pick. Deke stepped up to the plate when Yao was out, was that because JVG, or because Deke is a vet, that's been there done that. So, what has JVG done? He took a Knicks team with a bunch of vets,(no rookies) from the 8th seed to the finals, in the weak east. Wow!! His mantra to them was defense and try harder. No wonder they lost. We know his defensive style, but what was his offensive style? Was there one? Was it the same as what he tried to install here in Houston? IMO, he tried to install a eastern style basketball game in the west, in Houston. Please JVG go home! What was his record, .575(430-318) & .500(44-44) in the playoffs. How about Rick's .610(752-481). Aldeman has been in this game a long time, has a better winning % and has more lost that JVG has wins. So you be the judge! Season starts on Tuesday, time to start a new history. Thanks Les for the new changes!! There will never be another Choke city-Clutch City that only happens once in a life time. We always have a chance to make a new history. Go Rockets!!! It's Time!!!

If you want play time with JVG you better tell everyone what a good coach he is, other wise you will be "JeffVanGundied". Which means means: to be sent to the JVG Dungeon never to be seen again!

As I said when JVG was fired, it is usually the players rather than the coach that determines the fate of the team. I mean Adelman wasn't a "good coach" in Sacramento or Portland and a "bad coach" in Golden State. Rather with good players he did well and with poor players he did poorly. I expect if they had the exact same roster as last year it would be a wash between Adelman and JVG. Adelman's team probably scores a dozen more fast break points and gives up a dozen more fast break points than JVG would. Maybe Adelman finds a way to get Bonzi to get in shape and contribute, or maybe the team collapses when Yao gets hurt, rather than maintaining a winning record. We will never know.

Considering that the roster at least on paper is significantly improved from last year, I would certainly expect a better performance regardless of the coach. Especially if TMac and Yao can avoid the injury bug.

Still it's hard to say if the coach, or roster changes and the randomness of injuries from one year to the next, that will play the bigger factor in how this season goes.
