We have two (supposed) superstars that are (suppose) to follow after the shaq and kobe franchise mode. do you agree? but- Some problems with this: 1.) JVG does not run the triangle offense! With the triangle offense, other teammates are more involved and the defense can't key so much on your two superstars. fischer, horry, etc. made their living off of not just kobe and shaq- but also THE TRIANGLE OFFENSE. this was painstakingly obvious this series. 2.)also-tmac is not as good as kobe, and yao is def. not shaq. therefore they need better players around them than kobe and shaq had. BUT- 3.) we cant get those players because tmac and yao have similar contacts to kobe and shaq.
Triangle this... Triangle that... The triangle is the reason the Lakers lost to the Pistons in the finals. Whatever...
yeah those who are serious about elie are crazy. rudy t, yeah right. dont think him and his health are up to it. no more jvg guys. its time for a change. larry brown is so high maintenance its ridiculous. he'll quit DURING the season. paul silas................puhlease. give me a break. rick carlisle and del harris i wouldnt mind. but i want RICK ADELMAN.
I think Rick Adelman and Del Harris are both ideal suggestions and would be improvements over JVG. Another name i'd like to throw into the ring is Marc Iavaroni, he is an assistant coach with the Suns, is extremely well respected and is waiting for his turn to run a team. He is a huge part of Phoenix's success and i think he could do some good things.
My point was Shaq and Kobe are the reasons they won. Having the best inside presence and the best outside presence on the same team (arguably the 1st and 2nd best player in the league) are the reasons they won. It was simply that easy. The triangle inevitably held that team back and bit them in the ass. I feel the same way about Mike Vick in the west coast offense.
That is definitely a good point. though, i feel like the offense they ran would be a better offense for our team to run than the one we currently do. I just feel as if it would add a bit more UNPREDICTABILITY than JVG's offense. As far as Michael Vick, i love to watch him play, BUT i think ability to lead a team and the ability to make CONSISTENT accurate throws are more valubale than the unpredictability of being able to create on the run. I am so thankful my chargers passed on Vick and traded down to get LT.
In his first year as Pacers’ coach, Carlisle led them to the NBA’s best record In his first year as Pacers’ coach, Carlisle led them to the NBA’s best record then winning two playoff series before losing in the Eastern Conference finals. Despite major injuries to Jermaine O'Neal, Jamaal Tinsley and suspension of Ron Artest, they made the playoffs the following year, and then after trading away much of the talent on the team in Artest, Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington (hmm, they seem to be doing quite well), management fired him. The guy is a genius if he's given talent. He represents a very modern approach to the game that most of the coaches in the NBA don't understand. He not only architected Detroit's stifling defense as coach (with a trip to the Eastern conference finals in one of his two years there), but served as offensive coordinator for the Pacers before then. I wanted the Rockets to hire him four years ago, but his ties were too close to Larry Bird (they played and coached together) for him to consider the Rockets. IF Van Gundy is gone, I'd still like to see this happen.
I've always like Rick Carlisle, and he would have taken Indiana far if not for injuries, Artest being an idiot, and Bird and management constantly overhauling the roster.
Rick Carlisle makes JVG look like Don Nelson. And his people skills are horrendous, why do you think he got fired by Detroit after taking them to 2 50 win seasons in a row?
I'd choose Adelman by far. Remember the way his Kings played back in the day. He used to have Divac and Webber picking apart defenses with their passing. Yao could totally play that role.
hayes could also fit that role. i thought he was a great passer in college. hes just needs some polish so does luther. something jvg can't do.
stop. no one is a clone of jvg. jvg didnt change anything up as the series went on. we all knew our offense would suck going into the series, its not like during the regular season when you're playing a different team every night. but our defense was pretty horrid also. you would think something would click in jvg's mind, maybe we should do something different on boozer, “DEE-Dee-dee!” but nope, typical van gunduy, "we could have executed better." how about we just do something a little different next time.
we need to free Luther and get a younger PG that can drive and finish as well as dish and hit 3s. maybe SF3 at worst.
