If Adelman only played him 10 minutes and kept playing the small ball, how could Yao return to his form?! But, as I said it before, Yao and his agent won't be passive to let Adelman and the rockets to control everything. For example, he will probably play for China in 2010 world championship to prove himself still a dominant player.

About money and championship, I don't think if Yao choose money, he would lose the championship, or if Yao give up money, he would win the championship.

speed and explosiveness are far more important to T-mac's game than it ever was for Yao.

    It's just not the same.

But you know if Yao was playing this season, Adelman probably would play T-mac more minutes actually. That's the irony of the situation.

this lifetime Rocket fan thinks the front office blew it.

yeah, i hear all the noise about who pushed & who acquiesced. quite frankly, it'd be better if Adelman and company just shut up on this front. really, "I didn't think he's ready but bowed to public opinion" or " I was just following the chronicle's opine" ... only idiots buy that absolution of responsibility.

Not that idiots are in short supply ....

I really wish mcgrady wouldve kept his big mouth shut, and worked his way
back in to the line up.
You can't just come off microfracture and expect to play 25-30 mins again.
Whoever is advising this guy needs to be fired immediately.

I agree that they could have handled this better, starting from last year.

But to be fair, McGrady is not easy to handle. So I'd give them a pass. In terms of saying/doing dumb things in public, TMac is just a little better than Marbury and Iverson, and is about on level of Steve Francis.

As someone who wishes we still had JVG, Adelman has done a spectacular job with this group of players.

Coach of the Year, even if we do not maintain the same winning clip.

    Not even close.

The bottom line here is that McGrady is 9 months removed from one of the biggest surgeries that NBA players can come back from. Players DO NOT recover to form from microfracture any sooner than a year, year and a half minumum. It's T-Macs own fault that he is an outcast now. He screwed us last season. Now it IS on him. Fug 'em.

Well somewhat true, I mean John Stockton played in about 2 months, Jason Kidd came back in about 6, many others have come back earlier too.....

    Not all microfractures are equal.....

But any way.....you are right...he made his bed, now he gets to lay in it.

He screwed the team how? If you mean in blocking a trade, I'm pretty sure he would have failed any physical given to him. It doesn't excuse his actions, but the end result would have been the same either way.

How in the same post can you ask how he screwed the team, and then say it doesn't excuse his actions.

I believe you just answered your own question.

Disrupt the team from what the lottery...

You think this roster is going to take this team anywhere in the post season???

Better off tanking the season and hoping for a top 5 pick, as is Rockets have no future and Scola and Landry will spend their NBA life on an average team that may or may not make the playoffs and be booted out in 4 games...

Fortunately, this team has more heart than you give them credit for.

That, and the fact that with Yao back next year they can increase their wins by 10 or so. From 50ish to 60ish. Thats a title contender.

I think that winning begats winning and losing begats losing, this team is building a WINNING culture built upon hard work and team play.

You add the right star players to the mix, or you develop them, and they get a lot further than any team Tmac has ever played on....

I hadn't thought about this way. Any star that we bring in will have to learn how to fit with the existing team, whereas most starts wait for the team to figure out how to play with them.

What an awesome dynamic to have.

Good read and thanks for posting. This puts an end to all the Adelman had an agenda against McGrady post. He simply realized that T-mac could not play in this offense and this new style of play.

we're playing the ultimate team ball and this team has been the most enjoyable rockets team to watch in a long long time.

that said, part of the reason we're playing the current style is because we don't have a legit star. if we did, adelman likely would've figured out a different way of play, imo.

Bingo. Screw tanking for a lottery pick, which are never a sure thing to begin with. I love the direction this franchise is headed in, even if we don't get to the promised land this year.

    Very true on both accounts.

I just like what he is establishing as "Rockets Ball" right now. It's helping the young players grow a lot faster than if McGrady were here dominating the ball, or even if Yao were here. I see it all benefitting the team long-term when Yao comes back and when another player is brought in.
