i think having a GM and coach with a little difference of opinion is a very good thing. it will balance morey's analysis with the perspectives of a coach who sees a lot of the action up close and personal. you dont want a coach and gm to get into a bunch of groupthink.

Here is link to Jim Rome/RA's interview: http://www.jimrome.com/home/audio_archive_list/00/rick1.html
If I remember correctly, Rick was asked " do you truly believe that Tracy McGrady has been giving you 100% effort this season? Rick explains that he believes that Tracy has given him his best shot but it has been disappointing that there is consistency with his game. IMHO, he dodged the question because Rick isnt the type to call out his players. Rick explains that Battier is a coaches dream because he is an easy player to coach. Also, that based on the doctors, Battier has the worse injury or all the players, yet he still plays. Jim asks the question "How is the City of Houston since you have been there". Rick explains that he loves the city and the fans have been great. He also explains that the fans are always behind the team but when they start losing, they want to look at the old coaching and old ways and say it was better than now. Last, Jim talk about Rick's career wins with something in the range of 835 wins. nothing big. After Rick was off, Jim praises Rick about how he is able to keep winning with different rotations, injuries, and still maintain a winning record of 10 wins over .500. Jim believes that Rick should be considered "Coach of the Year". Now im just summarizing what was said to the best of my abilities. They are not exact quotes but i tried.
