Yao and Tmac were both neutralized at times by double teams, and defense that was made easy by the predictability of the offense - also known as doing the same thing over and over again even when it was no longer working. This resulted in Yao having many turnovers and Tmac being frustrated.

The purpose of Adelman's motion offense is to be much less predictable, utilize Yao and Tmac's BEST skills, and provide the opponent much less opportunity to predict our team's next move and to double team our two stars, and thus cause turnovers and unsuccessful scoring attempts.

I think that Adelman, Yao and Tmac are smart enough to try something and if it doesn't work the best, then adjust. This was something that ___ was incapable of. Pete and Repeat went down to the river, Pete fell in and who was left? Repeat! We will now be led by a mature adult who has no known "problems" or compulsions that will hurt the team.

For those who raise the question of Yao not catching the ball well, he has to do that whether he is stuck in mud in the low post or has moved to the high post, or curled around somewhere else, he has just created a situation where the defense can not predict where he will be and have two men there on either side slapping at him.

TO's down, scoring up, frustration down. Team wins.

Moron, did I say he was doubled in the playoffs? You just spoke generally how Yao because he shoots closer to the basket has it EASIER than T-Mac. That's bull. Playing in the Paint is much more difficult than in the perimeter because it's very physical. Can T-Mac shoot well if he is pushed and manhandled? He can't even shoot well when he is single covered.

Yao's scoring will only decrease if Yao chooses it so. He will have the ball in the high post. If he sees an open man then he will pass it (assist), and if he has a shot he will shoot it (points).

In any event, Yao will acutally see more touches and it will be up to him to decide how he will utilize them. This is why Adelman says that his pts may go down.

Also, playing the low post does wear down a body and leads to more injuries. Not because of size but because of the pounding.

Man....as Yao Ming's fan, I think it is close to blasphemy to say Yao Ming is faking an injury just to shun his responsiblity for playing for the national team......because I know even if Team Yao put forth such idea, Yao Ming will be the first one to say NO.

Nobody has ever said Yao's scoring MUST go down. Just that if that is what it takes to make the TEAM better, then Yao would be willing. That doesn't imply Yao's going to have to shoot less, it's just noting that Yao's willing to sacrifice for his team which is a good thing.

Dude, Yao is 7'6, 310lbs! I'm sure he can take care of himself in the post.

Pryuen, use your brain. Please..just stop looking at everything literally, and try to read between the lines a little...

You think Yao Ming as some sort of morally perfect human being? I don't.

He's a human being like any other. I don't think he is better than anyone else. YOu worship the man like he's some religious symbol. To me, he's just a great basketball player who is affable, and likeable.

You think Yao Ming and his management team and CNT is not beneath exaggerating his injury to avoid playing for the CNT? It is WISE to do so in this case because then CNT has no problems in the future with other Chinese players who play in the NBA. This "phantom" injury is an escape clause for Yao to get some rest, and also for CNT to preserve it's integrity...

Yao has no serious shoulder problems. If he really did have a cartilage tear, then the man cannot lift his arms. They are exaggerating the injury...

Go back and check what you said:
I brought up the fact that even he was single-coverd by Okur, he was not EFFICIENT given his HEIGHT ADVANTAGE.

You have got to be the most ignorant a$$ on this board. Where in my post did I once say Yao's scoring had to go down. Where did I say that? I said that Yao would gladly sacrifice his stats for the team. I never said for us to get better his scoring must decrease. Yao is a very efficient scorer. Mikki Moore, Eddy Curry, Boris Diaw, Ruben Patterson, Chris Wilcox, Samuel Dalembert and many others have a higher shooting percentage than Yao. Does that make them better? By your logic it does. If you weren't so far up Yao's posterior, you might understand a little about basketball and understand this whole situation. Rick A is an offensive coach. He knows the skills that Yao has and can use.

Why do you think those guys I listed above have higher shooting percentages? Are they better? No, it is because of the situations that they are put in. The same goes for Yao. With his ability to hit the outside shot, and his ability to pass the ball, he will be able to play a little more in the high post which will open up the lane which in turn will provide lanes for cutters to get to the basket. What is more efficient? An open lane for a layup at the basket or an outside shot. If Yao can pass out of a double team at the free throw line, we will get plenty of layups. So I ask you again oh wise a$$, which would the TEAM rather have. A layup from Battier, Bonzi, Snyder, T-Mac or someone else that has about a 85-90% success rate, or a chance that Yao gets stripped of the ball or Yao to take a shot at 51%? Think about it.

Now, before you get your panties even more in a wad and try and quote something that I did not say again, let me say this. I am not saying that Yao should not shoot. In order for this TEAM to be successful, Yao must be a big part of the offense and he must score some points. Yao's points may go down this year a little, according to Rick not me, but I would be willing to bet that his assists go way up if they do. Yao will get his points and he needs to get his points for us to win, but I think that Rick A is suggesting that Yao has many more tools available to help this TEAM. Again, your opinion aside, what would Yao want? Does Yao want 30 a game first, or does Yao want his TEAM to win first.

Moron, I know what I said. Did I specifically refer to the PLAYOFFS?

You were comparing a low post player with a high post one, and their FG% rate. You claimed that it is EASY to score in the low post because the distance is far shorter. That is wrong.

Yes, low post is closer of course, but it is also more physical. That is why Yao has more FTAs than T-Mac. So this claim by you that it is EASIER to score in the low post and that is why Yao's FG% is much higher than T-Mac is just plain wrong.

T-Mac could not endure the physicality of banging in the low post. He is a soft soft player.

So don't try to discredit Yao's higher FG% due to distance to the basket.

It is wrong to say Yao's shots are EASY and T-Mac's are hard.

It can be argued that Yao's is harder because he has two guys pushing and banging him.

I completely agree with this post. I would love to say that Yao can play like Duncan and work from the high post a lot, but it's just not true. Yao is so tall and big that he can't beat anyone off the dribble; he's slow and his dribble is way too high. This simply put makes him less effective on the perimeter.

30 a game first, cause most efficient player score the most, that is the formula to win. Yao should shoot 50 times a game and the rest should go to Head the most efficient at 3 point line

And you are a JACKASS for bringing up EDDIE CURRY or those other players into this argument.

Do you honestly think Eddie Curry is better than Yao Ming?

If you are intellectually honest, then you know he isn't, despite a higher FG%.

So why do you play dumb and bring me down as dumb for misrepresenting what I said?

So why do you bring Eddie Curry into this? Why?

Yao is a gifted scorer moron. Get that through your brains. He has a gifted touch for a big man. The fact that a 7'6 guy can shoot almost 90% FT is something special. His FG% is not the reason we and everyone else are praising Yao's natural gifts.

So why the hell did you bring Eddie Curry into this argument? Why are you misrepresenting me and what I said?

Exactly. All I've heard from those challenging for JVG's departure was that JVG forced his players into a system regardless of their strengths or weaknesses. Well ... we will see if Adelman is of the same mold because if Yao shots more from the outside this upcoming season than he did last year, well then it will be a myth that Adelman plays to his player's strengths. Hopefully you are right and time proves you so.

Well, you have to excuse this guy.....He is such an extremist that you can't reason logic with him. See how he starts to spill foul language all over my thread calling others by names......

When someone does that, you'll already know he is losing his reasoning/argument and can only resort to personal attacking/insulting others as idiots, morons, jack@$$es etc. etc. etc.

On the contrary... I think Yao will actually raise his scoring avg by not getting doubled all the time and getting easy baskets from just being at the right spot and the right time with a motion offense.

I think PPG is actually very deceptive. A player can be incredibly effective avg around 18-20 pts per game if he make his teammates better. He just needs to score when it impacts his team the most, such as at the end of games, or during the game to turn the momentum in our favor. This is exactly what Duncan does.

The thing is Pryuen, Adelman wants yao to have alot more resposibility on offense. he wants to use yao's excellent passing ability. he wants yao to ge more touches on the ball to be able to be more creative. yao is a triple double type player. he has an extraordinary passing ability for he's size. he has unbeliveble feel for the game. thats all adelman is saying. yao's numbers will probaly will look alot better . he'll avge like 25 ,11 boardsand 4 assists a game. yao is a creative skilled beast, we need to use all of that..

First, do you have to put a word "Moron" in every post? Or at least can you come up with 5 other words that have the similar meaning?

FG% is related to the distance, but is not only related to the distance. It is also related to a player's form, touch, and play time, etc. I am bringing up the distance to give you a single reason not to compare Tmac with Yao's efficiency. The playoff is another specific example to kill your excuse. Yao's shots were hard because according to you, he was doubled or tripled because he played closer to the hoop. The fact in the playoff was, Tmac was doubled in most time and Yao's shot was INDEED easy as he clearly had the height advantage over Okur and was single-covered. The fact was, Yao was not ALWAYS doubled/tripled, sometimes even when he was single-covered, he was still not as efficient as you claimed. Is that a mental issue or a physical/injury issue? Only Yao knows. But one thing I know for sure, you are wrong to compare Tmac and Yao's FG % in the first place.
