rockets victory against the jazz moves Rick Adelman (939 wins) into sole possession of ninth all-time on the NBA regular-season coaching wins list. With Red Auerbach now in his rear-view mirror, Adelman is five victories shy of tying Bill Fitch for eighth all-time. what an accomplishment. i know a lot of people on this forum have complained about rick, but he's done a very good job this year with all the changes and injuries. to think everyone is talking about the playoffs with a rookie starting pf, a back up point guard last year, 2 year bud, and a 6 6 center is pretty amazing.
Adelman has had to a major injury to a key player every year he's been the coach with us, and he still has the highest win% of any Rockets coach in franchise history.
Rick Adelman is a consummate professional. I hope he retires a Rocket. I really do hope he returns next year. The Rox have done some incredible things under Rick despite all those injuries: 22 game win streak, gets past the first round in a decade, takes the Lakers to seven games. Coaches like that are as rare as superstars even though we complain about him not calling timeouts, not playing the young guys, leaving the starters in up by 20. There is no one out there better. Plus, his offense is fun to watch
Oh yeah, compare Rick to Phil Jackson who pretty much had it made with players like Kobe and MJ. I wonder if Jackson could've done a better job coaching the Rockets.
If we sign a better defensive assistance coach we be a great team. I think the next 5 games are winnable except it could be a close one between Miami and Rockets..
