That's pretty sick even for the republican party.

What's wrong with that remark, from a Christian perspective? Is a person conceived through a rape any less of a human being? Is that person's life any less valuable? If the answer is no (as it should be), one believes that "life" begins at conception, and that all life is precious to God and He has a divine plan for living beings, then why object to his comments?

Using Dick's logic then God preordained the rape which caused the birth. You can't have it both ways brah.

But in response to your question, no the rape baby's life is not less important.

I think people may not be okay with the idea that there is god sanctioned rape.

It comes down to choice. Is "god's will" aka preordained rape more important than the women's Choice to not give birth

When people start saying "gods will" that means you believe in a higher power so you should also believe that evil and the devil is real. Rape is not gods will its at the hands of the devil and its pure evil.

something similar is said by the preacher at just about every funeral where someone has died tragically

"part of God's plan, everything happens for a reason", etc.

but hey, feigned outrage is about all Obama supporters have left at this point

As long as the rapist marries her, it's cool.

    Deuteronomy 22:28-29

28 “If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out, 29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife because he has humbled her; he shall not be permitted to divorce her all his days.

Isn't that also the Christian belief? Every time a tragedy happens, it's common to say "God works in mysterious ways." He gave us the miracle of life. And he can have any person raped at any time. You just can't tell what he's up to at any given time.

Statements like these make my head explode. And to think this man is running for a political office and if elected will vote on important legislature that will effect us all. It sickening. My heart goes out to the women who have to deal with these idiots on a daily basis.

It's not really new. Many may not subscribe to this and more wouldn't be willing to say so publicly, but there have been stories like this where Republicans and conservative pastors have called rape pregnancies "God's will".

There are many who believe that God's will is so far reaching that basically there is no free will and everything is predetermined. Any action we take, any thought we have is God's will. Of course they look away if you try to tell them that it was God's will that Obama was elected president and God's will that abortion be legal and that states are passing marriage equality laws.

But he very explicitly explained that's not what he meant. I imagine his point is that, as evil as the rape is, that doesn't make the life conceived from that rape less precious.

One may certainly question what it means for the life to be "preordained" while circumstances that brought about that life was not "willed" by God. But it goes back to the whole conflict of free-will and God being all-knowing. Apparent contradictions of this sort are simply part of the Christian theological framework, are they not?

Not necessarily. Maybe God knew that the rape would occur (because he "knows all"), but it wasn't so much his choosing as it was him letting humans have free will. And, knowing a rape would occur, he then willed that a life should be borne from it.
