I don't disagree with you. I don't like his writing at all, so I don't really want to end up defending him. But, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Feigen seems to squash this Les-as-GM deal when he described how Morey had to convince him to do it.
I suggest we put Richard Justice and John Lopez on a small island somewhere so they can gripe each other to death.
NICE! Imagine those two with a combined radio show. They would be yelling over each other the whole time
Sports Writing and Sports Radio are entertainment. You don't get the big money by saying things that are blase' or quietly reasoned. You entertain people by saying the most outrageous things for which you can summon up some debate, in order to arouse people's passion and hold their interest. It's sort of like being a lawyer, you might not believe in your client's innocence but you have to argue his position like you believe it. I used to hate Justice in the paper but once he got extended periods of time on the radio and wasn't playing to the crowd, he seems like a true sports fan with real reasoned opinions. He seems to know everybody and they are all willing to come on a do interviews with him so he must be a cool guy to have a beer with. Much like Rome he places a big emphasis on an individual's character. So it just depends on the point of view for the day; Artest the player is the best option the Rockets could actually acquire. He gives them a great chance to be very good. Artest as a citizen is a head case that has a high likelihood to bring a high character team down with dissension and scandalous headlines where it's all about Ron-Ron, not basketball.
