as long as the guy's writing and telling the truth, that's all it matters. If there's some positive things to write about the Astros, I'm sure Justice will write some. But there's not. Same with tracy mcgrady. Fact is he does bring a lot of baggages whether you like it or not. If all those stuff Justice wrote about tmac in today's paper are true, I really would have to look at mcgrady differently. At the same time, I'm sure the rockets manangement was smart enough to do some homeworks on this guy. It's like not we got a ticking timebomb like artest. Let's hope mcgrady really knows there's no i in team.
I could care less if T-Mac popped off on a trainer. "Where do you want it to hurt?" Hell, half the injuries in the NBA are nothing of the sort. We want to re-activate this guy. We want to rest that guy. Hell, get sarcastic with'em. You can't always be an angel.
The problem I have with Richard Justice is that he is way too inconsistent and a band wagon jumper. When the Astros started to fall off, he was defending McLane and the players (especially Bagwell) saying that McLane did what it took to put a championship team on the field, then a month later is laying it to him because he did spend enough money on the bullpen. With Bagwell, I recall he wrote an article saying no one should bench Bagwell but Bagwell. He went on about he was a warrior and would turn it around, first sign that he wasn't gonna turn it around, he touts putting Mike Lamb at first and having Bagwell come off the bench. As for his basketball commentary, well lets just say that the majority of posters on this BBS have more insight on the Rockets than he does.
If I wanted a role model, I'de read a book about Ghandi, Muhammad, or Martin Luther King. These sportswriters need to quit with this self-righteous bullsh*t because I really could care less.
yeah..and if Yao doesn't watch out, Chris Burke will be gunning for his job. you can't keep that youngster down forever! jason lane for president. out.
Serious.......is there one player in the NBA that does not have at least one baggage? What age was The_Mac when he pulled some of those stunt btw? 21? 22? 23? What kind of stunt did we pull out during those times in our lives? I expect to see baggages but I anticipate that they will be minimal and inconsequencial to the bottom line - CHAMPIONSHIPS!! What is RJ's point and anway?
Perfect example. He wrote THIS to open his column on August 8: I've known some tough guys in my time. Earl Campbell, for instance. Scary tough. Nolan Ryan, too. He would sometimes drill a hitter for making eye contact. There's Emmitt Smith, who wouldn't let a little thing like a separated shoulder keep him out of the playoffs. And Lawrence Taylor, who played an entire game on a broken foot. I know an NFL cornerback who refused to leave the field after breaking an arm. What's with the "I've known" crap? No one gives a crap if you've known them and the mere suggestion is completely unrelated to the column. It doesn't matter if you've known them or not. All that matters is that they were tough and how it relates to the rest of your column. Man, that is freakin' irritating.
Yes, it is. Some of us can say we've "known" some famous people. Golly, I serviced Earl's aquarium many years ago at his house. Met Earl a few times (he was very nice) and he gave me a coke or two. Big hairy ****ing deal. Justice is pathetic, when you get right down to it.
i've know Hakeem since 1994. I stood in line at Dillard's for 4 hours for his free autograph. When I got up there, I gave him my basketball card, shook his hand and said thanks. No one has ever shown me more toughness in putting down a signature before.
Kobe Bryant and Shaq are two of the most demanding childish temparmental superstars in Basketball and they won 3 championships. As long as "T-Mac" gets the job done. Who cares?
