Never understood the hate, but then again, I didn't read him regularly, but I did listen to him on the radio and he always had good info from inside on all 3 Houston teams, plus he knew a ton of great stories. I don't think Justice ever took blogging as seriously as the people who get pissed at his postings did.
Justice following in the footsteps of Blinebury, going from the chronicle to the official website of a pro sport.
Agree with this. He never really rubbed me the wrong way, but some people seem to really hate him. Maybe it's because I don't read many Astros articles. Never had a problem with his Rockets articles...unlike Solomon.
Rarely informative Rarely insightful Almost always a pure opinion piece...with those opinions prone to week to week or day to day changing Pathetic Emperor's New Clothes-style cheerleader for the Astros (They're going to be fantastic this year! Drayton's a great guy!) NBA pieces stunk of uninformed writing Good riddance. Hell, TexansChick and Lance Z are the best people on Chron at this point.
He was/is a jack ass. He literally would insult readers who would ask for clarification on facts/opinions in his columns. Completely unprofessional and juvenile.
Considering the IQ-depleting, blathering drivel he produced there on a daily basis, I certainly hope this is the case. Of course, his columns sucked, too. But the fact that he wouldn't take it seriously is just as damning. My beef with the Writer of Wrongs has never wavered: the 4th largest city in the US deserves something far better than a prepubescent smartass who doesn't produce anything you or I couldn't produce at the water cooler. Wild-assed opinion and speculation? Check. Smartassed one-liners with no coherent, consistent point? Check. ZERO literary or prosaic quality? Check. All that access to the pro teams, and a degree in journalism, and he wrote nothing that I couldn't have written myself from sitting on my toilet in my house. What a buffoon and a tool. Good freaking riddance.
Wow so much hate. I didn't mind his articles, and I read everything he writes about the Rockets and Longhorns. Yes they were sometimes vague, but I'm just happy to read anything involving either of the two.
really? does it? we're subjected to his garbage in a one-paper town. there is no alternative for local coverage. the fact we talk about him is only because there is no other option in the city.
I don't think people understand what a relentless mistress a daily column is. It's like she wants a new sex position everyday, 365 days a year. Coaches don't want to talk, General Managers won't say anything except the smoke screens they want out, players repeat the same drivel their agents drill into them week after week and you've still got to get a column out.
