I'm not even sure the Nets would give up Jefferson for T-Mac. I'm starting to think that's exactly what this team needs, someone to attack the rim like Richard Jefferson. Sad to be saying that when T-Mac is the main guy on the team, but we do need someone to join Bonzi in attacking the rim. Frankly, I think the team would improve this season with Richard Jefferson, because I just can't tell you . . . CAN ANYONE TELL US what we are going to get from T-Mac when he comes back from his injury?
Even more jumpshots A lot of waiting for picks at the top of the key....dribble to pull up for 20ft jumpers
it wasn't "I was tired", it was "I tried" Mr. smart-pants.. atleast he showed some kind of emotion and responsibility to the loss.. our team played like absolute $hit and we were still able to take 'em to 7.. Yao, despite posting great numbers on offense, got dominated so bad by freakin' Boozer and Ocur on the defensive end.. Rafer couldn't make a shot to save his pitiful soul, Luther Head disappeared, bricked more shots that the rims almost fell off.. who played other than Tmac?? who carried the whole sorry a$$ team other than him?? who made the big plays?? who sealed off the first 2 games for us?? who schooled one of the best defensive players in the league, Andrei Kirlienko?? who had to over come constant non-stop double teams and pass to his open teammates who rarely made shots?? lets rewind a couple years back, what happened in the Dallas series? who won single-handedly won the 2nd game? who controlled the tempo and give Dallas all kinds of trouble?? who led us to the 3 wins in that series? it was McLazy, but you're too damn confused and overwhelmed by what you hear in the GARM from those YOFs that you want him traded.. I guess moral victories aren't all that bad after all.. let our hero Yao Ming lead the team and set the tone by starting the game shooting 2-11..
stacy mclady...the wrongness stacy mclady...the wrongness i urge all of you who by into bucher's bs to go back and watch the utah game 7 and come back and say it was mcgrady's fault we lost. he is not durable and never has been. now people trying to say we are better without him...and yet yao gets off scott free when we lose... mcgrady is great. yao is great. adelman is a great coach. morey has proven himself...lets build around these 4 and lets see how far we can go...i see us going to the ship this year or next at the very latest!
Holy crap, that was damning. What I found interesting was that Bucher asserted that Morey and Adelman were going to end up restructuring the team. Really makes you curious what T-Mac looks like when he gets back.
Can't say that I disagree with anything he said, and everything he said did have a backbone to it. The only thing I disagree with is his assessment of game 7...T-Mac didn't shoot because, in the last 5min, the team as a whole shot 4-5 from the field and 3-3 from the line. Defense and rebounding lost that game, not the offense.
As expected, the Rockets performing poorly and posts are being made about Yao and TMAC inefficiencies. I think the Rockets have two problems. The style of play is not matching the personnel (minor changes to rotation should have been made when the team was healthy and playing subpar) change the style or the personnell. The Rockets need a third consistent scorer, who is aggressive. I was hoping Adelman would have gambled and injected Wells or Scola in the starting lineup with the expectation that they will struggle at first and get better with quality minutes earlier in the season. We need guys hitting open midrange jumpers as wells as threes. At best we hope to get one of the bottom half playoff spots. If we don't get into the playoffs Adelman may get canned by Alexander for failing to get good chemistry from a talented roster.
Listen to the Bucher interview. If he's right then the problem is active resistance to the new system on the part of McGrady. And his comment about "Morey and Adelman restructuring the team" implies that Adelman is not going to be the one to go.
There is no active resistence with TMac...I am sick of people saying this. The guy was FLOURISHING by moving off ball and being the designated scorer that Adelman wanted him to be. It wasn't until the injuries, specifically the leg injuries, as well as the return of old JVG sets did he start doing poorly and the team start to go on a major slide.
I think T-Mac plugged into the system pretty well in some of the games, but there were some others where it clearly didn't look pretty. In terms of being in the loop Bucher is clearly going to have more insider information that just about anybody on this board. When you put that interview together with the things Sam Smith was saying in Chicago--clearly there's some rumor going around in the professional sports media about T-Mac's situation in Houston. How truthful it is I have no idea but clearly it exists and the sports writers are talking about it.
part of the reason is t-mac. part of the reason is yao ming .part of the reason is the new system and finally part of the reason is all the other players wearing a rockets uniform who could not hit their open jump shot
He was NOT floursishing by moving off the ball, he was FLOURISHING by playing last year's offense.......and dominating the ball. He got off to a hot start, but in order to FLOURISH (your words) the team has to commit to playing the team passing game...ala San Antonio and Detroit. DD
we scored 112 points in game 2...unless mac scored 50, it was a balanced team effort to win that game.
Ric Bucher is not Peter Vecsey. Bucher's opinion is actually one of the more intelligent ones out there. Years ago when everyone else was predicting a Lakers Finals win over the Pistons, Bucher predicted Detroit would win easily. Sure enough, he was right. Over the years, Bucher has had some of the most knowledgeable facts/opinions about the game.
There's no doubt that Bucher is very, very hard on T-Mac in that interview. But... 1) Sam Smith in Chicago writes that people in the Houston Rockets organization aren't sure how T-Mac fits into the new offense. 2) Sam Smith then writes another article where he suggests a trade between Chicago and Houston because T-Mac is unhappy in Houston. 3) Bucher in this latest interview says that T-Mac doesn't like the new offense and is actively resisting it. 4) T-Mac and the Rockets go tit for tat for a couple of weeks with regards to his injuries (elbow, ankle and then knee). The Rockets say it's not that serious and T-Mac comes out and contradicts them. Either way T-Mac misses a lot of games. That's an awful lot of circumstantial evidance there that maybe there's a problem in Houston.
