end of this season? or do they think it will take most of next year as well, playing into shape, testing the foot out and such. i assume he is talking about this year, but just want to be sure.

If he really wants to mess with people's heads, he could post on his website that he expect to set March 20 as his comeback date. Then he could sit at the end of the Rockets bench waiting for Adelman to call him in!

i don't think this is news. we know yao will be back next year from the beginning right?

let us know when he starts his rehab and how well he will return. that's the key.

The only saving grace for this season was guys like budinger getting some minutes into them so when yao returns, rockets could be legit. but now....

    saving grace this season

    1. we traded an undersized pf that would want a huge payday eventually for a perfect sg in RA's system

    2. we got rid of a cancer tmac for multiple great picks

3.cbud,hill,anderson,ariza get experience for next year

4.yao gets the surgery to prevent further problems

5.we get a 11th pick in draft at worse and possibly top 10 this year

6.we would not have won anyways this year with yao because of lack of pf,so we needed change regardless of yaos injury, I still hope they ship brooks out to upgrade either pg or pf or sf.Im not sold on scola, ariza or brooks.

7.martin is sexy and fun to watch regardless of losing, and watching Jeffries "O-face" puts a smile on my face

I am pretty sure Morey meant that it will be close to the end of next season before we know what he is capable of. 1. it followed a question regarding yao and next year, so they were already talking about next year when he made the comment, ergo the season in question is next year. 2. is everybody really that surprised? Yao playing ANY meaningful minutes next year would be a good recovery, it took Big Z 3 years to get back to full strength, and while Yao at his best is better than Z at his best he is also bigger and putting more stress on that foot.

Bottom line is very best case scenario is that Yao comes back with enough time to give us at least some idea of what he has left as we get ready to resign him at the end of next year. Worst case scenario is...well i wont even say that, we all know what it is...TRADING YAO FOR TMAC AND FRANCIS!!! j/k

Yea, I don't think he has any interest in playing with Martin anyhow.

    Oops. Lol.

I'm pretty sure he meant end of this season.. which is why he said "end of season" rather than "end of next season".

Didn't it take Igauska 2 full yrs to fully recover from the same injury? And someone mentioned he was 25 yrs old then.
