Too many "ifs" for this scenario. However, even if it's 1-5% chance of happening, it would be sick to watch the full Rockets lineup int he playoffs. Go Rockets!

You have to believe the HOPE. Yao&Tmac still have hope. If they are healthy in playoff, this Rockets should win it all.

I think I would prefer seeing him for a few more years. I thought his behavior last year was bad, but I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and I believe that players should be allowed to have human emotions.

I just don't believe in these sports robots that will sacrifice everything, including their health in their retirement years for a championship. It is an extreme case, but I just saw Tyson interviewed last night on Conan, and his speech is getting extremely slurred these days. I know there are a lot of former athletes that are in a lot of daily pain for the abuse they put themselves through.

Anyway, I don't mind some drama and I enjoy watching McGrady play. Other than Hakeem, he is the most amazing player I have been able to see on the Rockets. Drexler was stronger (physically and mentally), but McGrady is definitely more graceful and more creative.

Whether he plays here again or not, I'll live.

Not an unreasonable scenario, if they are not offered something they want in a trade and the price is right on a new contract or contract extension.

Tracy really needs to change minds this year for that to wash with the majority of the Rockets fan-base.

If he plays roughly how he played in 07/08, what kind of contract do you think he'd demand?

i don't think it's the stats really that will get him a new contract, it's how many games he will play. he'll get his stats this year. but if he is able to play 70 games with no injuries to end the year, he should be able to a demand a $10 mil/yr at least type of contract, unless he explodes out of this world again, which is highly unlikely.

IF it does happen I agree that this team could be very dangerous come playoff time. I will be hoping for the best.

why does he ever bother writing about the Rockets? He's a ****ty baseball writer, yet also tries to write about sports he knows nothing about

Do you mean "demand" meaning what he'll ask for or what he would be able to get in the market?

I am thinking the market for him would be something like a little less than Hedo Turkoglu's money.

These guys will be about comparable age-wise. Both are "point forwards" who have pretty complete games on the offensive end. McGrady has more atheletic talent, but is not as effient shooting-wiseas he is also a greater injury risk. More important, the perceived (or real) "headcase" factor will make teams leery of committing too much money to him while Hedo is generally considered a "good citizen."

Who else with cap room is really out there looking to blow big money on McGrady?

In any case, I don'tt think Daryl Morey will pay more than "market price" for McGrady. He's just not in the habit of overpaying.

    And the Tooth Fairy.

Jeez, what is it with Justice? Stay the course, I can read Morey´s mind, we won´t make any deals till next summer (even though we won´t actually have the money to get a star player), I believe in Tracy and Yao....

    Enough with this guy.

THEN PLEASE DON"T CALL YOURSELF A ROCKETS FAN

you have no expectations on them? while the team is trying so hard for them to expect their fans to give all out support especially when it is needed the most from all of us? you are just like those ESPN guys, why don't you just join them?

Since Rick Adelman came to this team and Daryll Morey took over, we have seen progress each season; 22 wins in a row, won the 1st rd of the playoffs, pushed the Champs in to a 7th game in rd 2. And for this team to progress in to a championship contender, they will be needing their STARS! and not some other team's STARS who may or may not even fit in to the Rockets Hustle.

simmer down man, many people are tired of having high expectations only to be let down. He said he will still appreciate watching the team fight and scrap out some wins. The team is facing a lot of difficulties right now, and its rightful to not set your expectations too high only to get let down.

Here's hoping you are right. If so I have to think that we are talking possible championship.

I was sort of hoping for the David Robinson-Tim Duncan scenario. A top lottery pick plus a healthy T Mac and Yao for next season, but I guess I will settle for the present cast, but all healthy.

um... he's a good sports writer and I think his points are valid in this case... if they come back who knows. It could be nice.

I know AI and TMac are somewhat different players, however, what AI is going through shows that a sg with 10+ years of mileages is hard to find the next big contract (Kobe is an exception).

Not enough stupid pills in the world to convince Morey and Les to re-sign Tracy, not even at a huge discount.

And Yao isn't going to play next season, period. The Rockets would be insane to bring him back early, positively insane. Nope, this is just Dick Justice doing his job, helping shill season tickets for a major advertiser.

Say what you want about Dick Justice, but I don't remember him being in the habit of shilling tickets. Particularly, when most people were all excited about the Artest trade last offseason, he was quite dubious about taking on a potential head case.
