Fine - prove me wrong Mr. Rice - I will be the first to stand and applaud you. -I am skeptical. I was against the sign and trade from the beginning. This takes up 9 mil in salary. Prove me wrong Mr. Rice, but I think you a broke down old player....
Don't be so sure. Rice is going to have to prove himself ready just like Nachbar. Also, if this KT to Toronto for Mo Peterson deal pans out we just might see Mo-P as the starter(I like that idea).
i think if the rockets can get 14 points out of rice a game they'l be rapt. if he can sort out he's knees, he could well be a extra scoring power the rockets off the bench. rockets in my opinion are good 5 to 7th seed in the west.
14 points is asking too much. But I see him playing 20 minutes a game, and focusing all his energy on that 20 minutes. I'll make the boldest statement here. Rice will be top 10 in 3pt% in the league next year IF he plays enough games to qualify. When defenses collapse on Mobley, or Francis or in the post on Ming, then who's got the WIDE open shot? What I do agree on, though, is that he's way overpaid for what he's capable of giving. But his contract is just this year and the next, so he's basically going to be the cap space that makes up for Griffin's contract.
Does anybody know exactly where the Rockets hold training camp in Austin? I'm here for the time being and I would like to be able to catch some Rox action in person if it's open to the public.
Don't bother looking for it, it's closed off to the public. Hopefully Clutch will be there again for some coverage.
Thank you sane! The thought that Rice' contract completion next year will leave money open for Eddie is a good way to view this lost cause with G Money Rice. Eddie and Mobely are my favorite players.
I don't know RoxME, he looked FAT at the beginning of last year...Heck here's a post from last year describing him. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25500&highlight=rice+out+of+shape I was an excellent swimmer in my day, swimming can take more weight off of you than playing basketball can... you should NOT be fat if you swam to stay in shape...you just shouldn't, sorry. I posted the same thing in the post last year....hell YOU even said Rice has lost some hunger from his early years, yet you jump all over me at the beginning of this post about saying the same thing...Jeez. Anyways, I see that Rice has a lot of supporters here... Anyone here want to put a wager on Rice's season? I'll bet $20 bucks in the tip jar to one person that Rice won't play anymore than 26 minutes a game and won't score more than 10 ppg. Hell, I BET that he'll miss at least 15 games due to injury to top it off...Any takers? BET ME! (I've always wanted to say that)
sorry one last thing. allornothing: a laker fan wrote this about rice a year ago... it sums up Rice and his attitude pretty good. Hello, not a Rockets fan here but rather a Laker fan. Just wanted to comment that we knew Rice all along was not a great team player. A few rocket fans thought we had missed Rice for his shooting but in fact, his days are numbered because he doesn't have the athleticism (with injury hampering him) to create his own shots anymore. Rice has to realize that he's not the main gun anymore like the days of old but has to deferred to other new up and coming big guns in the league. Haven't you realize that he has complained in the last 3-4 years about his playing time and how he never gets the ball or get to play down the stretch? I actually don't think it's totally Rice beotching but rather 50% of the blame comes from his wife. She's the head of that family and whips Rice into thinking that he should be jacking up more shots and more time. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25138&highlight=rice+out+of+shape
Can't you see all the "when healthy" qualifiers in even the Rice supporters' posts. When a player is constantly injured for 2 seasons or more, he should be considered "over the hill" no matter what his age is. Look at Grant Hill. I loved him ever since his college days. One of the classiest guys in basketball. But I think most people would spell his first name D-O-W-N now. Not to mention the Dream. . . .
