Unfortunately, they lean way more on the SAT score than I'd like to see. You can be great across the board in everything and if you're not over 1400 or so, you probably won't get a look. Now, if you are a minority, this is not the case. They will definitely take that into account and your scores will not have to be as high. As far as paying for it goes, they are generally good about tuition assistance, but it's a pain in the ass.

You should have applied earlier.... Early admissions is always a plus. And have really really really really good essays, and a few letters of recommendation are always a big bonus.

Unless they've changed it, early admissions deadline isn't until Nov. 1. However, it is good advice to apply early admissions if you want to get in...

Ahhh, I have ALL those (minus the Band, TV, and Tennis thing). But how the hell are you president of them? You must be some loser. :D

You're corresponding with a VICA member. Boo yeah.

At least I have some great recommendations coming my way and great ideas for essays. One is also a reason as to why I never played high school sports. Did you spend a total of one month in the hospital for a bowel resection and repair of a pectus excavatum? I have; not at the same time of course. Now, beat that!

I'm soooo bored, but hey it's Fall Break.

It's sad when you're talking trash about Post-Secondary admission.

Mr. Mooch, my advice is to pick the school where you feel most comfy. Cuz sure college is about classrooms, lectures and labs, but it is also about socializing and having a good time.

    :)

You're not gonna find anything worth your while in a place like Rice. Below I have compiled a cursory list of fine educational institutions which provide the perfect equilibrium of academic excellence and frankly the finest ass you're gonna tap during these special formative years of your young up and coming lives:

    1) University of Florida
    2) University of Arizona
    3) Chico State University (CA)
    4) University of Colorado - Boulder
    5) Indiana University
    6) University of Georgia
    7) Washington and Lee University
    8) University of Northern Colorado (Kobe's favorite too!)
    9) last but not least, DeVry (reach for some ass and then reach for the sky)

Yes, stick with any one of these fine institutions and you will always be ass-ured a bountiful supply of fine ass chicks. Don't go that prestigious academically finer institution of learning route - I've done that shhht. Naw, stick with the hot chicks and you'll be ok.

You're the 5th person this week to suggest Florida...

    ...for the same reason. :D:D:D

I don't plan on working hard in college. LOL

But I'm seriously considering Georgia, Florida, and Texas. (chances are my final choices as to which I were accepted into would be these three).

Hey, Alabama isn't off my list. And some of the finest ass you will ever see attends this school. :D

I would add Wisconsin to that list of good academic undergrad schools that have a lot of fine ass and a rep for having a great nightlife.

Rice chicks, overall, are not hot. A few grad students here and there are okay though. And the Dean of Admissions is allergic to shrimp, so if you're having him over for dinner and serving shrimp fried rice, it's not a pretty sight.

Take out the word "overall" and you're absolutely correct.

With regard to the hot chick factor at Rice, just keep in mind this highly salient statistic:

Rice is 50% male and 30% female.

To the thread starter: Sadly, it all depends on your race. If you are not black or hispanic, forget about it. On the bright side, you can be a star at a large publicly funded state institution.

Do you play varsity football and do you hate gays?

If yes on both, call Ken Hatfield. You can get a scholarship.

Trinity University I think could top Rice in the "most unattractive women" department.

I think there was no shortage of the non-shaving vegan's walking around protesting the ill's of using makeup in society.

We called it the Trinity Effect. Sub-par women then became "hot" in the Trinity life, yet did not have the experience to cope and their inflated ego's made them even less attractive. Fortunately we were a few hours from Monterrey, a city with an amazing supply of very hot women.

Nice job on misrepresenting what Hatfield said.

Do you love to get humiliated by your biggest rivals each year in football, and lose to a small private school with less than 10% of your student population in baseball? Perhaps UT is the place for you!

    Sorry...low blow...

My dad is a former alum of Rice University, and he does interviews for students around the Conroe/Woodlands/Spring areas. From what he has told me, he is most impressed with the people that have had to work for their grades. He hates the people who are given everything on a silver platter. But sadly his views don't seem to dictate who gets in and who doesn't. The people who have had hardships in their lives and have worked through them seem less likely to get in compared to someone who has a higher GPA. The students who are involved with things like Science Fair, AP courses, magnet schools, and other extra curricular activities; have the best chances in getting accepted into Rice.

Not sure if it means anything or not, but the only students that have been accepted into Rice that he has interviewed were involved in magnet schools.
